  1. cheers for the heads up Kidney, I didn't know either
  2. I bought Karrimor walking shoes from sports direct and they fell apart too. Today's Karrimor is not what it was back in the 80's. Thinking about it, and a personal opinion only, sports direct are always going to put cheap price over over good quality ---------- Post added 15-07-2016 at 11:34 ---------- genuine question, but do they still do rucksacks with an external frame? I don't recall seeing them since the 90's
  3. worth checking out is whether it needs planning permission as it is that close to your house and it depends on the %age floor area of the new shed in relation to the existing house. Don't take my word as an expert, just check first
  4. probably (Im no expert) but as the house will be bigger with more rooms the council tax banding is likely to shift upwards. Example if there are two 2-bedroom houses on band A now, it will end up something like 1 house on band D as the combined house has 4 beds, more reception rooms etc. It won't mean he just pays half of what he pays now.
  5. Ah radio, yeh ok. But then Radio Sheffield, say no more. I thought you were talking serious BBC. Radio Sheffield would be more interested in featuring a song written and sung by an ex-castle market trader with his tambourine.... or some such tat. ---------- Post added 12-07-2016 at 14:50 ---------- not seen that to be honest
  6. I'd be more concerned about the values. Let's say they are 2 semis worth £170k each. Plus £50k building work. The single house you have would never be worth the £390k you have spent edit - I see chez has already said this, apologies
  7. [/color] Even worse, the screen would be full of black n blue Sky logos
  8. just resurrecting this, as I've just caught sight of a poster advertising this years Gillyfest for this Saturday. So, if you don't like the noise, here's notice to pack yerself off for a weekend break in a sleepier part of the world.
  9. Brits have won 5 stages in the first week and are currently holding 3 out of 4 of the classifications jerseys. What an effort! ps - really good to see Cav back in action doing what he does best.
  10. yeah, I know, just throwing ideas out there on the off chance that it was a long time ago and some of the details might be more in the mind than actually exist ... if that makes sense
  11. ok, I'm on for a guess .... it's Hope As you drove in from Sheffield, the village seems small with a row of cottages on the right, including the spar and the church on your left. Here you turned left, so wouldn't have seen the size of Hope, which sprawls out towards castleton and onto the Edale road. When you turned left, you face the mountains and would have seen the Lafarge cement works (not Hovis) on your left.
  12. How are you defining that? Most of us are bound by commitments, be that work, family, friends, money constraints. Those that are free of all the trappings of life in terms of time aren't free to spend that time enjoyably as they are poor
  13. didn't know we had to get it spot-on to make a comment. Remember no one has all the facts, so us (the ordinary forum punter) rely on heresay/perception/ideas etc to form opinions. It's how normal discussions go ... sometimes those opinions are wrong, sometimes they're right, but preventing posts and trying to save forum space because it's not been over-analysed, will eventually kill the forum. But just to defend myself here, I'll bet the Crosspool Tesco will be far cheaper than the butcher and greengrocer that have been mentioned. And you yourself mention "convenience", as do I, so I cant be all wrong
  14. Broomhill also has a healthy student population as well as hospital and university workers in the area. Crosspool doesn't - it's mainly a middle class residents area who will either (a) shop at Tesco cos its cheap/convenient or (b) support local traders. Few will do both
