  1. There's also Steel City Striders who are a city wide club but they certainly do a number of sessions per week at Millhouses park.
  2. Hi Florence There are a few around the Sheffield/ Rotherham area that you could try. I'm not 100% sure which of them teach privately but I'll DM you a few names if that's ok?
  3. A brilliant day all round. Great support, the jelly babies/ haribo on offer and the hosepipes were AMAZING. I actually managed to pace myself well for once and b3eat my target time so very happy with that, especially in the conditions. Well done to all who took part!
  4. I'm doing it this year - I love the route but first time doing the actual race. Really looking forward to it!
  5. Great run Fudbeer - mirrors my favourite run very closely. Sometimes (if the missus allows me the time for a longer run) I keep going up to Burbage/ Higger Tor and then back - about 20 mile round trip. Lovely
  6. Hi Nick That's really weird - I've tried it on my work computer (Excel 2013) and my home one (Excel 2010) and it works fine in both. I can't seem to recreate the results you're getting. Without seeing the sheet its hard to work out why its not working.....?!
  7. It's not particularly elegant (or correct) but you could just enclose the formula above in an IFERROR formula? So the end result would look a little like this: =IFERROR(IF(A1<B1,ROUND((A1/A1),2)&":"&ROUND((B1/A1),2),IF(B1<A1,ROUND((A1/B1),2)&":"&ROUND((B1/B1),2),"1:1")),A1&":"&B1) This means if any 0 is entered (in either cell) you will get the two cells stuck together (0:1, 0:2, 10:0 etc. etc.) Depends if this is how you want the cell to deal with a zero value. Cheers
  8. My bold - Now THAT I will totally agree with!! Vibram did pay out a massive amount of money - and it was because they were claiming things that weren't necessarily true. The big disclaimer with the barefoot/ minimalist thing is; if you don't buy into it completely, and are willing to put in a lot of hard work to run correctly, then you will end up with injuries.
  9. I don't think this is necessarily the case. I think the mainstream shoe manufacturers who "had a go" at producing minimalist shoes are moving away (as they always do) towards the newest fad. However, what has happened in the last few years is that there has been an increase in manufacturers who specialise in barefoot/ minimalist shoes. For example VivoBarefoot or Skora (two of my shoes of choice).
  10. You're doing all the right things Waldo - one of the main things to focus on is much shorter stride, landing with your foot under your knee/ hip/ shoulder. It'll feel really weird at first - like your taking ridiculously short strides - but persevere. Make sure you are running quite upright (if you do lean forward try to focus on leaning forward from your ankles NOT from your hips - sounds (and is) difficult). There's a website link below that has helped me enormously with making the transition to barefoot/ minimalist running (not specifically about barefoot running - but just help with running in general), and look up Lee Saxby on google - lots of good articles, videos from him about running barefoot. Kinetic Revolution
  11. We've played at a number of weddings at Baldwin's (so can't really help with the food questions!), but always seems like a good venue. Staff are helpful and organised, plenty of space, separate bar area. Lots of parking also a big plus. Sure they'd be happy to accommodate going to look around - always the best way to get a feel for a wedding venue. Good luck:)
  12. Interesting to read this Firethorn. I have made recipe's over the years with cream (e.g. murgh makhani), tomato puree and sultanas (various korma recipes) and don't think they ruin it at all. I suppose, as with all things, it's down to personal taste.
  13. I like the occasional flutter - mainly footy and golf bets.
  14. My bold. Interesting that two of the things you suggest they could be learning instead, in my opinion don't have any practical use what so ever. I learnt a number of sonnets off by heart at school and have never needed to use them "in real life". I also know quite a lot of interesting facts about historical Kings & Queens, and again have never needed to use them. I'm fairly sure the issues with the current education system are deeper than just whether kids should learn up to 10X or up to 12X. And that's not to say i disagree with your point, just pointing out that what some consider useless "learning by rote" may not be considered so by others. I'm a "Maths" type person so find knowing as many times tables as possible useful. It also seems (reading what i've just written) i like to overuse quote marks in my written text
