  1. I have been watching the owls for nearly seventy years. A season ticket holder since 1967. The same seat in the north stand since 1979. I think I can say that I am a true Wednesdayite. These last couple of seasons I've found it hard to go and watch when it's very cold. My body is telling me to pack it in, but no, I'm a Wednesdayite through and through. I have said that this will be my last season but I know deep down that I will be there next season whatever division we are in. If it it were not for Mr. Chansiri we would not be here today in my opinion. However, I question his methods of how the club should be run. I am of the opinion that he hasn't a clue what we true supporters feel like and how deep our emotions run. I honestly don't know why he became involved in the first place. Having said that we are stuck with him so I would say to all Wednedayites, stop all the protests, stop all the "Chansiri get out of our club" chants and just hope that things can only get better. The man doesn't like being criticised and chucks the toys out of the pram when he's upset. The support we have is second to none, lets keep it up and support our fantastic OWLS.
  2. I went a few weeks ago. in and out in less than two minutes.
  3. Well it seems justice was done. Thank god for some sensible summing up by the judge. By the way, I still don't like united and I am not a fan of McBurnie.
  4. To start my post I would like to say that I am a 100% Owl and I have no feelings for the blades whatsoever. I also have no feelings towards Mc Burnie. So here is how I see it. I witnessed the scenes on TV of the aftermath of the game between Forest and the Blades. I cannot imagine what was going through the blades players minds as they were confronted by a mass of idiots running on to the pitch to deliberately goad the blades players. Fair enough they had won. (Still no excuse) But remember that Billy Sharp was brutally attacked. Put yourself in McBurnies shoes, does he think this might happen to him? He might not be an angel but faced with the the prospect of getting the same treatment as Sharp had just received he must have been terrified, he had to defend himself. I hope the McBurnie is found to be not guilty and hopefully the other guy gets his comeuppance in some form or another.
  5. I have a bit of grit sand/ salt , approx 3 buckets full ( not much I know) any one wants it please message me. I live at Sheffield lane top. I can't lift owt these days so I would be glad to get rid. It is all in one container.
  6. In the cellars at the Cutlers Hall on Church street there is an archway which is filled in with stone/bricks etc. Apparently this was the entrance to a tunnel which ran under the road to the Cathedral.
  7. Stall in the moor market sells watches, clocks etc .Does repairs and battery fitting. Very reasonable prices and very nice people. The stall is at the bottom of the ramp (left hand side) as you enter from the moor.
  8. Don't know what other people think about 5 subs being allowed this season but I think it's a mistake. It is going to encourage even more time wasting near the end of games. I saw a couple of examples on Saturday with Portsmouth bringing one sub on and less than a minute later stopped the game again to bring on their last sub. I think all teams will use this at some time during the season ( some more than others). The days when 2 or 3 minutes added on at the end will be long gone. It's going to be 8, 9. 10 or even more.
  9. There is one thing to be said regarding this. The grass will always grow grow better at the lane cos of all the crap that's on there every week.
  10. It's certainly not like it was some years ago, or do we seem to think things were better in the old days? It is obviously not as strong as in years gone by. Maybe that's one of the reasons.
  11. I still get a pint of magnet or two (or three or four) from a couple of W.M.C's in Sheffield. The best pint of magnet I have had in years is at The Furnace pub in Hoyland, next to the fishing ponds I frequent. A bit pricey but a beautiful pint.
  12. My late mother worked there in the seventies, I know she worked in the file department most of the time but i'm not sure if she ever worked in a scythe department. She worked there for quite a few years. Her name was Minnie.
  13. I have n I have never been a driver so I can't speak with any great knowledge about driving instructors from that era. However, I do remember Roxy very well. Apart from Roxy and B.S.M. (British school of motoring) I can't think of any others at that time.
  14. Hi There Page Hall - er, I lived on Bolsover road between 1950 to 1970 (when I got married) I can relate to just about everything you have mentioned. I knew the lad that drowned, his sister was Anne and they had a brother who's name I can't remember now. When I got married I bought a house on Barnsley road, just around the corner from Bolsover road. I lived there till 1986. I went to Hucklow Road school and then Hinde House. Happy memories of those years. Unfortunately that area is now one of the worst in Sheffield. How times have changed. Please send me some more of your memories. it would be lovely to remember those days again. Hope we can chat again soon.
  15. After he left Wednesday he was involved with a gym at Sheffield lane top. ( don't know if he owned it or managed it) He was a regular visitor in the Pheasant pub and also called in the W.M.C at times. I spoke to him on many occasions and it seemed to me that he was never really interested in football. He always came over as a nice guy. R.I.P. Tony.
