Do they also repair or sell spares for wooden venetian blinds? Just the tilt mechanism going on a blind (which is 1 of 4 so don't want to replace it). Their PM facility doesn't seem to be working. Thanks.

My 'reptile' friend says the head looks a bit like a slow worm, apparently they can grow quite big. Interesting how non of the organisations you contacted were helpful.

Rather than you suddenly having a disorder, (unless you just had a head injury) it's probably that it's not got your full attention, either in laying down the memory or in retrieval. If you definitely want to be more accurate you could use a technique like giving your imagination an image of Ann with a pan, Ben with a pen, or Brian with a brain (something that rhymes) - you get the idea. Just something that triggers that in your memory. There are loads of techniques out there.

I don't think it is the police who are investigating crime of this nature, but the National Crime Agency.

Can anyone recommend a tv aerial engineer

Just had Slaters for a new aerial and am really pleased. Helpful, courteous, arrived when they said and job done in no time. All you could ask for really. -
The best Gluten free places in sheffield!
Ruby2 replied to hcotterill's topic in Going out in Sheffield
The autoimmune disease, coeliac disease was studied in Greece circa 1800. It was called Kollia - (latin Coeliac) disease. Higher numbers of coeliacs are a result of better diagnostic techniques. It's not just a bit of bloating or farting, undiagnosed or not following a gluten free diet can potentially lead to cancer. -
Improving My Qualifications in Sheffield
Ruby2 replied to leviathan13's topic in General Discussions
The WEA have basic courses that start in January for around 12 weeks. If you want a qualification then Sheffield College will even do online GCSE English and Maths, though I think they are September start to accommodate the May/June exam. -
While seeing the above, Ty Coch Inn at Porthdinllaenon on the Lleyn Peninsula is on the list of one of the World's Best Beach bars (along with one in Jamaica, Hayman Island .... ) and Portmeirion, near Porthmadog, is amazing.

If you want to go further afield (as the weather is mild and it's a 30th) you could go to one of the Bettys tea shops, though they close around 4pm. Bettys is one of my favourite tea shops - I've been to all 6! http://issuu.com/bettysandtaylors/docs/bettys-harrogate-christmas-opening-?e=1631292/11912189 Alternatively try a nice hotel as they'll not be desperate to close and get off home for Christmas! Whitley Hall Hotel off the A61 nr Grenoside would be handy for your Wakefield companions. http://www.afternoontea.co.uk/uk/yorkshire-the-humber/south-yorkshire/whitley-hall-hotel/ They also do a lunch (whether it's this price at Christmas I don't know): http://www.whitleyhall.com/special_offers I've never been - I live too nearby!

Should there be a reward for info on High Green Murder?
Ruby2 replied to columbo's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
I only mentioned it as it was in use very recently - I'm assuming that as two officers (one tall and one short - John? ex army) told me they were "always there" . -
Should there be a reward for info on High Green Murder?
Ruby2 replied to columbo's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
The terrible truth is that there is a manned police station just along the road (10 mins walk - 2 mins drive). Somebody would have seen something - Greengate Lane is busy with traffic at all times of the day and night, unfortunately the place he was murdered next to the park isn't very well lit. -
Did anyone ever go to Mr Tinker's on Mansfield Road, Intake? It was a double fronted house with yellow shutters on the outside. As a kiddie it was very alarming to go there - you had to go through an ante room to reach the dentist with one eye !!! (He did have a patch over it.)

Old driving instructors and lessons!!!
Ruby2 replied to kezzzza's topic in Sheffield History & Expats
I couldn't believe the tragic news about Colin Fish - how terribly sad. Colin taught me to drive in 1973 and I passed first time at Handsworth Test Centre on a Friday afternoon. I had most of my lessons in a Ford Cortina Mk 3 (very Gene Hunt, Life on Mars), then he bought a mini - so I took my test in that. Colin had a story about everything. He also had two other instructors working for him - an older one (I think with glasses) and younger guy (who I quite fancied at the time!) Colin instilled a real responsibility into his students - I can't remember how many times he said that the car was a lethal weapon (obviously he was describing other people driving!) -
Building next to 24-hour Tesco, Infirmary Road
Ruby2 replied to eurotour08's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
There was a gradual move of 'outpatient' departments from the RI to the Hallamshire from 1979. Not sure of the actual closure date. BTW the hospital was much bigger than the remaining building. There were 3 buildings the size of the one remaining, plus many auxiliary buildings.
