  1. Not a recommendation - more a suggestion for where not go... I used the one in the Post Office near Howden House earlier this year. I found it a real hassle and I thought the photos were terrible. The machine wouldn't accept some of my coins (you need £5 in change). I only had £5 in change, so I didn't have extra coins to swap with the ones getting rejected. The machine wouldn't then return the money I'd already put in so I could go and get more change. When I eventually got to the point of having my photos taken they were awful. I get that you won't look like a supermodel on a photo booth snap, but I looked a cross between a criminal and the living dead. Don't get me wrong I'm not vain but I would have liked a photo that made me appear half human. I pressed the option to retake a number of times but the machine announces loudly that's what you are doing so everyone in the large queue knew I was repeatedly retaking them. In the end I gave up took the terrible shots and paid to have the done again elsewhere.
  2. I too have notice more litter. As someone has already mentioned the litter in the undergrowth along the sides of the Parkway is appalling. It's not nice for people that regularly travel along there too see but also what first impression does it give to visitors to the City? I don't go to Meadowhall very often but when I do and I use the car park, I am also appalled by what people have appeared to just tip out of their car on to the floor before driving off. It is a sad sad world we live in because I pretty sure if and when confronted about it, a lot of offenders will respond with something along the lines of it 'what's it got to do with you' or it 'keeps people in a job' type attitudes. They do not give a second thought to the negative impact on others of their dirty, disgusting and lazy habits.
  3. I spotted it from the dual carriage way when I went past yesterday and wondered if it was any good. So far I've found the places serving Greek food to be pretty disappointing. Is this one any better? Is the food fairly authentic and tasty?
  4. I don't know if it's just coincidence but the path that runs along the back of the old Don Valley site was blocked off last week. There is a sign saying it will reopen in July. I've used it for a few years now to avoid Attercliffe Road because I t's a horrible road and made even worse by the terrible potholes. It's unpleasant in a car but for a cyclist it's dangerous I can't wait for July to come.
  5. I went and enjoyed it. I had laughter tears streaming down my face at some bits. I thought the middle of the show before the interval was the best bit. Towards the end of the show wasn't the best but all in all I thought it was a good evening especially for the ticket price £8.50. What did you think?
  6. I cycle (dare I say that without upsetting some people on here!) up and down Wood Lane a couple of times of week and the barrier is not helpful to cyclists either. It is actually a gate that spans the full length of the road so to get past it you have to go up on to the footpath. (Now that will definitely upset some people on here!) When the road was first 'opened up' there was a bollard that could rise up and down to let certain vehicles go through. However I know it was constantly damaged and also of at least one person who became a cropper trying to sneak through and it rose under their engine and damaged it. From my memory as other Forumers have already said RMBC are not willing to open it up because of the impact they believe the increased traffic flow will have on people living in the residential areas of Brinsworth and Catcliffe.
  7. I've been doing some work in my garden and found some weaved in to the hedge by the previous occupant. I've been pondering on how to dispose of it. You're welcome to some of it, although I think you will need some strong metal cutters to cut off the length you want. Send me a message if you're interested.
  8. I'd also recommend Bike Rehab. I've used them a couple of times in the last few months and been happy with them. I know they are busy and I think they prefer you to book in but when I've just dropped by they've managed to fit me in.
  9. I've passed the former Woolworths / Peacocks store building today and can confirm that somebody is in there doing some work. You can't see much because they have put that white window wash stuff (sorry I don't know what it is called) on the windows.
  10. I use to go regularly but have stopped going since I was left waiting 40 mins for my appointment with no apology offered. I appreciate they are trainees so may run behind but it meant that the longer I was waiting the shorter my appointment would have been. It also use to be cheap to go but the price has steadily risen over the last few years. It is not like a pedicure in a beauty salon they basically cut your toe nails and then scalpel off all of your dry skin and then sand down your feet to make them smooth. I think they also check for problems like verrucas and corns but I never had any of those so I don't know what they do if they find them?
  11. It seems pretty popular and often has a queue outside so I decided to try one of their wraps. It is about a year ago now but from memory it was some sort of chicken burrito. As a tried to bite in to it lots of brown watery liquid kept dripping out and as you have mentioned their didn't seem to be much chicken in it either. I ended up throwing it away after a couple of bites. I thought it was really disappointing . I know it is still popular as I pass it regularly and I have often wondered why after my experience but is reassuring (in a strange sort of way) that someone else feels they have had a similar experience.
  12. A couple of years ago I visited Debenhams to buy a Chanel perfume set for a gift for a family member. I thought the service for buying what I feel is a luxury brand very poor. The shop assistant was more interested in talking to her colleague than serving me and was not helpful when I asked for it to be wrapped as a gift. I took the time to get in touch with Debenhams via the feedback channel on their website and put together a constructive view of why I was disappointed with the service received. I didn't receive an acknowledgement or response.
  13. I too love the truffles. About 10 years ago they use to do a Cadburys Cream egg size version of the truffle. The egg split in two so you got two pieces. They were delicious and I wish they still did them. They now only seem to do the caramel filled ones.
  14. Many good experiences but I have recently had a bad one with a sat nav I was selling. It sold for a reasonable price and then the buyer didn't pay. I then received a detailed email a good few days later from the buyer saying that they had bought it for their Grandma who loved caravaning but since bidding and winning it, she had died so they didn't want to go through with the sale. The way it was worded sounded a bit suspicious so I had a look at the buyers feedback and recently bought items. It showed that the day after they had bid on and won my sat nav they had bought another sat nav at a cheaper price. I appreciate Ebay introduced that sellers couldn't leave negative feedback to protect buyers. But in this sort of circumstance it feels a bit unfair that buyers can get away with it and the seller has to go through a long drawn out process to cancel the sale and get the charges refunded.
  15. Just got back from Zante this week and had a fab time. The only reason we were aware of the troubles was from listening to the holiday rep, reading British newspapers and watching BBC world news. Price wise I thought it was more reasonable than France, Spain and Germany. To give you some idea a can of pop in a shop was 60 cents, water was very cheap and eating out was a similar price to here but the quality of the food I thought was much better. As with most places abroad we found local alcoholic drinks to be very reasonably priced. Imported drinks are more expensive than home, but with imported brand spirits you pay more but the measures are bigger. Car hire was cheaper than we paid in Ibiza last year. The resorts were a little quiet though. I know there was a lot of talk of it being because people are opting to go all inclusive. How ever I don't think there were many all inclusive hotels in the resort we staid in. It makes me wonder if it is also because people at home are having to tighten their belts and not going abroad or maybe how the troubles are being reported by the press is putting people off. I have been on holiday to Spain, France and Germany in the last two years and by far by favourite holiday was this one to Zante It felt less commercialised, the staff in hotels, restaurants and bars seemed more genuine and eager to please and help you have a great time.
