  1. Is there a register of empty shops in Sheffield that can be used as a pop up shop? I have an empty shop and would like to make it available for anyone wanting somewhere short term.
  2. Those finishing touches, Holme lane Hillsboro
  3. Can anyone tell me how much it would cost to concrete a small front garden? It would need turf removing and a small stone wall taking down and making good. The size is around 12 metre square. Cheers
  4. we would require 10 letters in a script writing, height approx 6 to 8 inches in a silver vinyl. could you give me a rough price including fitting?
  5. Can anyone help me with a rough price for a shop sign? I am thinking of painting it myself and just having vinyl lettering. Would this be the cheapest option?
  6. Travel agents would be good, somewhere to book a sunny break and pick up some foreign currency, any other ideas???
  7. Can anyone recommend a glow worm boiler engineer? I have heating but no hot water.
  8. Glad all is ok, but to say performing a scan isnt rocket science is a bit degrading to the sonographers who train for years in order to perform a hard and sometimes thankless job!! they are also entitled to a christmas holiday and may be more willing to be on call if the pay was more substantial???
  9. The Asda is great but I would love to see a proper hardware shop like the one on Crookes, somewhere that sells everything from pegs to paint and maybe a chemist so people dont have to travel for medicines and cosmetics etc, a mini boots would be good.
  10. I think we need a post office on Walkley as the nearest are Crookes and Broomhill and are always mega busy. A stationers, a hardware shop, craft shop and cards/gifts shop would save people a trip into town. A paint shop, electrical, soft furnishings/small furniture store would also be handy. Any sort of clothes shop, ladies, mens, childrens or somewhere that sells, shoes, handbags, accessories, jewelery etc. All of these would make a more vibrant and busy shopping area.
  11. The Asda opens on Tuesday, it looks pretty much ready, who's going to see if theres any opening offers???
  12. I am hoping that the Asda will attract the people back to the area, as yet though, there isn't very much else for people to browse round, a few speciality shops, gifts, cards etc a hardware and clothes / shoes would save locals a trip into town or Crookes / Hillsborough. It would also fill up some of the empty shops that are to let, making the area look less run down. Perhaps some of the landlords could give incentives, maybe a couple of months rent free and then a couple half price just to make it easier for new businesses to get a start???
  13. Oh I hope not, Darcy's sweet shop is up to let now too, hope things start to look up when Asda opens, it looks as if the refurb is in full swing now, thank goodness
  14. Thanks for your advice. I did get a written quote and was recommended by a friend of a friend!!! The work seemed ok at first but by the job was coming to a close there was virtually no communication and as the job had been paid for along the way, no comebacks on their behalf. Since then another builder has pointed out many faults, though whether these are valid, god only knows??? I think I need to photograph all the 'faults' and run them past trading standards, just to be on the safe side. What a to do, why is nothing straight forward, seems like everyone is out to fleece you:suspect::suspect:
  15. I have just had a bad experience with a so called builder. Should we be allowed to name and shame these people, if only to protect others??? In these times of hardship and poverty the last thing you need is someone ripping you off and leaving you with a whole new set of problems!!! Why are we letting these people get away with daylight robbery yet we cant retaliate in any way, I wish someone had warned me and saved me a lot of cash I didnt have in the first place:rant: There should be a register of rip off merchants.
