  1. Ah, doesn't it look all sweet and innocent...you'd never know it was a murderer that slowly strangles the life out of it's victims. Maybe theres a lesson in life there somewhere:lol:
  2. Hey, how do you feel about selling you images or lending them to charity? Only, I think the Trust's Nature Reserves team might be interested in the Wyming Brook photos. Ever considered and freelance work? Seriously. I'm looking for a photographer for a project in Norfolk Park. Good work. Laura
  3. http://www.onyxsheffield.co.uk/ywaste_recycling_bluebin_delivery.asp Will give you your area's date (subject to change) We're not due ours until September!!! PS adore the idea of tumblewheelies - what a lovely word. Baublebag, are you a writer? If not, you should be.
  4. Heeley isn't very bad at all, but that's why I said S8 . The not-so-refined areas of Heeley are S2. I agree that semis are more expensive, which is why I would be looking at 3bed terraces, which are a good size, and less expensive. On my road they are going for 70-80K for a well kept, modernised 3bed terrace in a nice area. oops, gotta go Laura
  5. Junade, It's a nice thought, and it has been fairly certainly ascertained that there were tunnels to and from these buildings, but that they most probably did not run from town to the Manor, as geographically there are some major problems with that theory. If you definitely know differently, then please please show me irrefutable proof (i.e. photos or the tunnels themselves or Council documents - I've heard the stories and read the articles already, no offense ), as I've been chewing on this problem for a while now If you can get tunnel tours, then you will be a popular person, as a lot of us on this topic are itching to see some of the tunnels. And I for one would like to know the definitive answer(s) to this niggly subject Smiles, Laura
  6. S8 is a very good and sought after postcode for quality schools. AND you can find 3 bed terraces for under 80k - certainly in Meersbrook. We have lots of parks and mature trees, and friendly neighbours. S8 includes parts of Heeley, all of Meersbrook, Norton Lees, Woodseats, and Greenhill. Blundells and Reeds Rains are the main estate agents in our area, with Baldersons coming a close second. Do beware Blundells, however...they are masters of putting houses on the market at low offering prices, getting a bidding war going, and then closing with blind bids which is very nervewracking Still, we managed with them all right. Best of luck Laura
  7. Norfolk Park CRIC: 2797617 They may put you intouch with Stuart Massey, who's a major player in the regen game (SCC). Best of luck Laura
  8. Grange demolition has always been the plan. The promise we need to keep an eye on is that they won't do it until the 'Extra Care Scheme' (read sheltered housing for the elderly) has been built. Which, at the rate things are happening on Norfolk Park, could be a while. Laura
  9. I've just come into possession of a letter in the Star (02/07/98) that is all about the Park tunnels. This gentleman asserts that as a lad he and his mates used to play in some tunnels (entrance on Skye Edge) that led to Manor lodge (where they were barred and gated). He reckons the entrance was a 'vast hole' on Skye Edge, so I'm presuming that at least the hole has been filled in. Apparently they found war munitions and Moony gang coins in there, which they sold to the ragman. But if there really was a gate and bars at the Manor Lodge end, someone must know it's there...we've had the place crawling with archeologists before now. Curiouser and curiouser...
  10. How many people have put Manor down cos they've heard it's the 'worst estate in Britain'? That's not on. You're far more likely to have a dangerous encounter in Burngreave or Pitsmoor... I've sampled the delights of living in all of these places. Actually, during my 'desperate domiciles' stage, I preferred Manor to the others.
  11. I posted a response here to you, Jonathon, but it seems to have disappeared. It was the address of the Norfolk Park Community and Information Resource Centre. They are the ones who should know. Any use? Laura
