  1. I use my blue box for paper and I manage ok with that, its the plastic and tins I seem to have an endless supply of. Even when I squash and flatten everything and stack them like Russian dolls I still fill the bin in a week. Its so frustrating
  2. I called Veolia this morning to see about getting a larger blue bin as I always manage to fill mine within the 1st week. I saw at least 3 larger blue bins on my way out this morning. However the very unhelpful man I spoke to informed me that Veolia only do 1 size of blue bins for residential properties. When I said that I'd seen properties with larger ones he seems to think I can't tell the difference between a business and a residential house! He's told me I can always take extra recycling to a centre but as I don't have a car this isn't something I can do so he's told me to put it in my black bin instead. hold on a minute, I want to recycle more and you're basically telling me no. To which he replied that the people at these properties must have bought them privately...... So its got me thinking do I want to buy a blue bin and help the environment or do I want to just stick it in my black bin?
  3. Thank you Found out its bus routes 72/72A/201. He has to be there for 11am tomorrow but shifts would start at 6am and the buses don't start running until that time......
  4. My ptnr had a job induction tomorrow on Maple Road at Tankersley, S75. We live at Parson Cross, S5 and we have no idea how he's to get there. Its near the Taybarns restaurant so if anyone knows how to get there that'd help too He doesn't have his own transport so would need to know bus/train times. A route number'd be great so we can look up times. Thanks in advance.

  8. I stopped reading comments on the 2nd page so someone might have already mentioned this. If he is a council tenant you can approach the council as he is causing a nuisance to his neighbours. Don't let the fact that he is an elderly gentleman sway you, its not as if you can approach him as you said due the fact he cannot answer the door. The council won't kick his door down and barge in with pitchforks and torches, they will approach him in a sensitive manner and find a way to sort the problem. I won't be actively monitoring this thread so I won't see any replies, there are some people who make snide comments just to get a rise out of you. I am a smoker myself and would hate to think that my habit was causing someone else distress in their own home. Good Luck and I hope you get things sorted.
  9. Anyone have an links or telephone numbers? I live on Lindsay Ave and have a daughter who turns 2 next month. I'm wanting a group/nursery which I can walk to and possibly leave her for a few hours so she can used to being without me for when she starts school.
  10. I'm having a few problems with Scottish Power myself! When I moved into my council property in November 2012 The electricity supply was with Scottish Power, there was a post pay meter in the property and the supply was up and running. I called them to set up an account and was told they needed to send me a card so I could credit the meter. I explained that the meter didn't need a card and the supply was already on, to which they replied 'Oh, well it shouldn't be...' I had to provide the meters serial number which wasn't on their system for this address so they decide to send an agent out to 'check and replace' the meter. They thought that the previous tenants had installed a meter from another property to get free electricity (crazy so and so's). The agent visited, said the meter was ok and he would reiterate that to Scottish Power. I was moving to NPower who were going to install a new meter anyway so I left it at that. Received my 1st correspondence from Scottish Power informing me I was now on their monthly cash plan and needed to pay £54, I paid it and used my electricity, moved to Npower no problem. Npower sent an agent who came and installed a brand spanking new meter. I have since received my final bill from Scottish Power saying I owe them a further £51.87! How on earth have I used £105.87 worth of electricity in less than 4 weeks?! I called them and was told that since I provided all the readings thats what they'd used to calculate the bill. The previous tenants paid no electricity bills for 7 years, I was told this by Scottish Power themselves and have seen the bill they sent for the previous tenant and it totalled £7000 Surely if they had illegally installed a meter it may not have been running correctly? It may have been clocking up more than was actually being used? Since the meter has now been replaced and probably recycled do I have a leg to stand on?
  11. Knock it down and build a fenced park with a live on site keeper
  12. Not that I'm complaining but does anyone know why the Parson Cross Hotel on Deerlands Avenue is closed? There's notices in the windows stating 'Closed Until Further Notice' I've heard on the grapevine that its was the police who ordered it to be closed. I think a new landlord took it over a while back because it seemed that the outside was being spruced up a little.
