  1. Oh I 'm sure that they can. However plans of social mobility, Further Education and an industrial strategy have been so silent this last 14 years, people would be forgiven for thinking they aren't on the agenda
  2. I've just told you of someone I know who came to the UK a refugee as a youngster and is now doing a Pharmacy course.
  3. So why assume that asylum seekers will take away jobs of less skilled people. Given the chance they could be the solution to many of the shortages we face across many sectors and professions.
  4. Yes I'm sure something else of yours has gone up by having Thatcher in the discussion
  5. NHS England — North West » North West doctors mark 20th anniversary of unique NHS programme that has changed their lives
  6. I know of an asylum seeker from Sudan who came here as a young man and is finishing his training to be a pharmacist.
  7. Is that what the debate has sunk to - "let's dig up maggi snatch" 🤪 Anyway, I thought you said that Boris was the man to act in the best interest of the UK? You clearly weren't listening, when as Mayor he called for an amnesty for asylum seekers.
  8. To be honest though, if death in the sea isn't a deterrent, being sent to Rwanda won't be.
  9. I don't think it's a single silver bullet solution but rather a whole series of policy initiatives, hard work and luck by police and intelligence services in catching people smugglers, as well as issues such as climate change and wars (i.e. the drivers of asylum seeking) being resolved.
  10. Allow asylum seekers to work and to contribute then! It makes perfect sense, we have a shortage of labour, many asylum seekers are willing to work - let's put the two together.
  11. Not in so many words. Up until this moment, and even yesterday the Prime Minister said his Rwanda plan was in essence humanitarian because it will help prevent tragedies of drownings. But Habib went way beyond what any politician has done and said that he would leave people to drown. There's no way that isn't a dog whistle to racists.
  12. I didn't know about it till yesterday !!! I'm not bothered about people celebrating St George's day in lawful way you daft spanner - It's the thuggery in the name of Englishness that I hate.
  13. I know, and what's dangerous is that he's the first politician who has come out and said "I would rather people drowned to death than be able to potentially seek asylum in this country". I wonder if there are other politicians watching and waiting to see what the reaction is, and if it's not received too badly, they to can join in the fun of watching people die for votes
  14. What eventually happens when there is nothing left of the barrel to scrape:
  15. Oh dear: Lee Anderson mocked for mistake in bizarre St George’s Day post (msn.com)
