  1. Yes, you have a point, but affordable housing is what's in short supply. I was hoping that with 1, 2 and 3 bedrooms available, there would be something for all pockets. Poor people have to live somewhere too. If everything is unaffordable it puts the onus back on the council to provide suitable housing and they are having difficulty with that as the long waiting lists attest. They need a bit of help from the private builders.
  2. I agree with that. I've been advocating improving public transport for a long time. I'd use it where I could.
  3. As I tried to point out on my previous post, time is an issue. I and many other people have to be in several different locations during one working day, and that isn't possible using public transport as it takes too long.
  4. It would, but that's not how they operate is it? Half the things that are now banned were never mentioned in any party political manifesto, they happen without discussion after the party is voted in, by which time there's nothing you can do about it.
  5. Not terrorism, so mental illness. IMO Incels are in the grip of a mental illness of sorts, but by the same measure so are terrorists. That does not make it any less of a crime, and is no excuse. And both create terror in the true sense of the word. My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families.
  6. Starmer will be thrilled. He's been trying to get rid of her ever since he lied about supporting Jeremy Corbyn to get elected as leader.
  7. Belittling the country, or simply stating the truth? Opinions may vary.
  8. Generating nuclear power does not cause climate change, it is considered 'clean.' However it does produce by products that have to be disposed of very carefully. Weapons, on the other hand, especially nuclear create total devastation as we can see from Gaza, Ukraine, and any number of other warring countries. They throw tons of dust and debris into the air, and destroy land and buildings, and people which all has to be cleared up. Presumably the buildings will be rebuilt using more materials. The same can't be said for the land and the people. One bomb probably causes more global warming than any number of cars etc. Yet here we are suppling thousands of such bombs and weapons, while simultaneously trying to stop people poluting the environment with cars, often at great inconvenience to themselves. People don't use cars for fun, they use them because they need to. That has barely been addressed.
  9. Interesting.... He's unelected. I believe he's been made a Lord (by whom?) so he can sit in the House of Lords. He can then pontificate on any political subjects, and vote down bills etc, so he has a great deal of political power. Is this democratic?
  10. Cheap telly, cheap celebs. We are living in very strange times with very strange values that make no sense to anyone over 40. We can only hope the barometer swings back the other way sometime soon and people come to their senses.
  11. Sorry you're feeling low, but feeling low is something that affects nearly everyone. Life is a succesion of good days and bad no matter who you are and what's happening in life. Tomorrow is another day and you might be feeling quite different, either way it's achance for a fresh start. Kids are difficult for every parent, particularly when they get to a certain age, so try not to dwell on it. Plans go wrong and It's possible to upset / offend them just by breathing in the wrong way 😏 never mind saying the wrong thing... You can't win so, just be your authentic self and let them get on with it. You are not 'an entitled, self pitying mess,' You're struggling with ill health, and finding things understandably difficult at the moment. Give yourself a break and try to relax, whether that's by meditating, yoga or whatever is your thing, or simply something as simple as watching a bit of telly or reading a good book. Give your brain a rest with a bit of distraction to take your mind off things. Be kind to yourself once in a while. You're worth it.
  12. Well done Weazel. Remember, baby steps, take it steady and don't expect too much just yet.. The first steps are often the hardest so you're doing well. Let 'Don't overthink it, just do it.' be your mantra. Confidence will come in time. We're all wishing you well. Let us know how you're getting on. xx
