Zebra   10 #1 Posted February 20, 2006 I received this today in an e-mail and thought I'd share the responsibility to remember this important information  Very interesting....... Year 1981 1. Prince Charles got married 2. Liverpool crowned Champions of Europe 3. Australia lost the Ashes 4. Pope Died  Year 2005 1. Prince Charles got married 2. Liverpool crowned Champions of Europe 3. Australia lost the Ashes 4. Pope Died  In future, if Prince Charles decides to re-marry .... someone please warn the Pope!! And the Aussie cricket team!! I honestly thought it was a windup, but we did win the European Cup  Z
 Share this content via...
Guest   #3 Posted February 20, 2006 From Snopes: Pope Paul VI died on 6 August 1978, and John Paul I also passed away just a month after being selected as his successor.  However, although the next pope appointed that year, John Paul II, was wounded in an assassination attempt in 1981, he survived the shooting and remained the pontiff for another 24 years, until his death in 2005. No pope died in 1981, as claimed above.
 Share this content via...
AtticusFinch   10 #4 Posted February 20, 2006 I think you've got confused with an alternative set of coincidences.  The version that I heard was 1978. In 1978 the pope died, Ken and Deidre from Coronation Street got married and Liverpool won the European cup. The same things happened in 2005.  As a red myself, I'd be interested in any other coincidences between 1981 and 2006. One is that this year the European Cup final is in Paris, and it also was in 1981, when Liverpool won it for a third time. Does this mean number 6 for the reds?
