I'd be surprised if Simmo and the other out of contract players weren't already aware prior to the final how things stood - if we'd gone up then there may have been a new contract, but with staying down difficult decisions would be made - and over the length of his contract, I don't think there'll be too many blades who think releasing him is a bad decision... if he'd shown his Wembley form more regularly, it may have been different!

Turns out Cresswell has another year.
While I wouldn't mind keeping him, his wages aren't sustainable for a player of his stature.
