Wembley doesn't have a closing roof.

Cost most likely, can't be cheap to cool a volume of air that large.

But I doubt it was 100°F as that's almost 40°C & the air temp hasn't gone above 27°C in Wembley all day (according to weather.co.uk)

Why don't you google it and see? It doesn't have a fully closing roof, it takes an hour to operate, and it is not operated whilst the stadium is occupied.

Someone on R5 Live said the tempatature was registering 41.6 degrees.

The ground temperature is likely to have been considerably higher than that - which is what the footballers would feel.

The two ends close and open to allow light onto the pitch the grass to grow. It does not close all the way across. This comes from the Wembley tour I went on when it opened.

Through jeans? Must have taken some serious sunlight.

It was absolutely boiling. We kept going down onto the concourse to get out of it.

(They were those thinner kind of jeans tho)

Further to my point about the ends being the only bits that open and close, see this pic from this morning, showing the roof fully "open" which is apparantly being kept open for the L2 final today
