as a technophobe could anybody tell me why i should get the 4s rather than the 4? ive been told the iphone 4 is very similar. same size etc etc and you can do the voice thing on both?

If the "voice thing" is Siri, then I don't think that's available on the iPhone4, just the 4S.

I could be wrong, my OH has a iPhone4 and I don't think it's on there.

Ive had the 4 and just got the iphone 4s

4s is better because
far better camera
siri
better and clearer screen
better protection to the screen
better battery life
lot faster - dual core a5 chip

the list just goes on and if your after a 4s o2 do it refurbished for £36 pounds a month with a great deal

also siri is only available on iphone 4s and works great

Wait until October for the iPhone 5 - all the above and bigger screen plus hopefully NFC for contactless payment and support for UK 4G specifications.

but will the iPhone 5 be a big flop like the iPad 3 though i viewed both iPad 2 and 3 and decided to go for the 2 due to the 3 been thicker and heavier and not much different to the iPad 2 I'm loving the iPhone 4s and yes i hope the 5 is better but there is not much you could do to improve from the 4s apart from shop and size but i still don't think apple will go any were near as big as the note i think it shall be as slim as the current iPod touch and be slightly bigger screen but not to big with 4g internet speeds ( when networks in uk catch up )

I agree with many of the key points here.

I can't stand Apple, or their products, or their business practices, or their fanboi users, but the iPhone 4 was the first decent phone Apple made, and the 4S is much better.

They're very simple to use too, which is important if you really are a technophobe

If apple follow their previous designs where the 1st issue of their new model is a big change then the 5 should be good. Apple are facing huge competition from Samsung in the smartphone market so they need to step up their game.

would have been better off saying apple are facing huge competition from Google's android !

since thats the only worth while competition to apple's ios, windows phones are going no where

lol there was a huge difference between the iPad 1 and the iPad 2 but the iPad 3 is thicker and heavier there are only minor improvements they have made they could have really changed a lot and people were expecting big things in the iPad 3 and it just didn't happen i was in the apple shop comparing and even the manager said your best off getting the iPad 2 and then get the iPad 4 when that is due to come out due to there been not much of a jump from 2 to 3

It's a whole 0.6 mm thicker and 49 grams heavier. That's hardly going to break your arm.
The extra weight is due to the bigger battery that has to power a screen with 4 times as many pixels.

You can get "siri" on the 3, 3gs, and 4 if your phone is jailbroken.

I got the 4s after having the 4 for a year and half , cameras better , siri gets boring after a while and can be slow . the speed of the phone is much better.

But ive got to say the battery is rubbish compared to the 4 , and the 4 wasnt very good!

Having a nightmare with 4s battery problems main issue is it runs down fast even if in standby or even aeroplane mode and stanby time is usually the same as usage time for some reason gonna take to Genius Bar see what they say tried all usual fixes

After release of iPhone 5 peoples turned to buy it because of its exotic features, application. But still as all knows Apple device comes up with few problems, so this time we are having Apple maps issue as it is super flop.

To be honest after reading numerous articles on the web and personal experience I think it is clear there are issues with inconsistent battery life particularly on the 4s.

i must be lucky ive just got a 4s 2nd hand and my battery's not to bad better than the wifes s3 and my htc one s i get around 2 days use with calls wifi ect on the apple.
