Don't need to look on another forum Scoobs, all you need is Sheffield Forum. Look at it in slow motion, misses him by a whisker, the ball does not deviate.

Pot calling kettle black?

I never use that phrase, but it really is applicable here. I'm 18 and as far as I'm concerned we're both MASSIVE underachievers. However we've been SLIGHTLY better than Wednesday for my entire living memory. This is probably the first season I can remember you finishing above us.

But yeah, I don't socialise with the older generation of Owls who have been there and done it. Seen Wednesday win the title, get to the final of the European Cup etc. Oh wait, was it not just a League Cup (That Oxford United won a few years earlier)?

Thank God I don't talk to middle aged Wednesday fans every day, the ones around my age group have a better grip on reality.

Which is my point.
your lot would have snaped any one of the three up !! and thats a fact, Walker is a Blade who has come through our ranks, made the club money and in the long run will be a major player for the national team... now why should the poster not boast of those assets ??

Walker and Jags did great things for United thats why they went for substancial fees..... how far back have you to go before you had a major income from a transfer deal? or again who was your last academy success?
Your Last England player??? shall we go on... or shall we let the poster have an opinion?

When we talk about cup runs, we talk about finals, and even winning them. And not that long ago. And a cup thats got many a winner a place in the Uefa cup.

You talk about semi finals and losing them.

We talk about internationals, and we talk about when (not that many years ago) we had a full team of internationals.

You talk about internationals who have gone on to things AFTER they leave you for big clubs.

Tarquil will be on here soon saying 'Juan Sebastian Veron is a blade!!' as though it's something to be proud of

That's the kind of tenuous link I'm on about.

Walker left your club ages ago. He's not a blade. Yet some of your fans seem to think you deserve some kind of accolade when he scores a good free kick

hang on FS, I have to pull you up on this, what is your definition of timescale here?

Walker only left the Blades three years ago, so if that is "ages ago", then your talk of finals, etc., must be even longer ago (although you say "not that many years ago"?), surely?

SUFC have been the cities form team for around 14/15 years, which is a long time really. Not disputing what you say, just your use of timescale.

TITLE OF YOUNG PLAYER OF THE YEAR WOULD SUGGEST THATS NOT THE CASE, PUNDITS NATIONWIDE REGULARLY SING HIS PRAISES.

May be if you put your England glass" on and took off those bitter bLue coloured specs, you could and would accept the local lads done good !

Time is relative to the object in focus.

In terms of a players career, a few years is ages.

In terms of a fans lifetime, a decade is not.

BTW, 14/15 years ago we were in the premiership. United were not.

Here we go again, reverting back to the old 'My Dad is bigger than your Dad!!!' routine, and I mean that from both sides before any Owls fans jump down my throat..

Walker's crisp free kick was a cracker.
Was it a one off?
If he's capable of that on a regular basis, then hats off to him, but I doubt it.
Good player though, and one England will be glad we're able to call on.

Think you have been watching too much Dr. Who mate

Minutes, days, months and years are always the same (incuding leap years), timescale doesn't change because someone says "it only seems like yesterday", as people do when they get older, just a persons memory of an event.

You are correct though, it was 12 years since SWFC were in the Prem, not 14/15, I don't follow SWFC and should have checked that first.

There's a lot of clubs that have won trophies in the last 80-odd years ... United aren't one of them though

That's the difference. You're about 40? Or at a minimum in your 30s.

The Owls I socialise with don't talk of Cup runs, internationals, high league finishes etc. It hasn't happened in mine or my friends living memory, and I'm 18!

I'm glad some people in Sheffield have some memories of success.

Bad luck on missing out on the Euros. I think he would have been a certain starter.

Very unfortunate for Walker, but may have been a little too soon for him. Next tournament would be ideal.

If anything it's disappointing because for me it points out what Hodgson is going to do and it will be very similar to the style which has failed us in the past. I can see a traditional 4-4-2 with his golden boy Steven Gerrard in the middle of the park with Frank Lampard. Full backs will be expected to be full backs and should they venture as far as the half way line they will get a ticking off, I reckon thats what he's doing, if he had any intention of playing with a bit of attacking flare and creativity with wing backs then I think Walker would have been included.

I really hope he proves me wrong, put aside the Sheffield United history of Walker I think he is a must against some of the best sides in Europe, his pace at the back is vital with the types of players who are going to be running at the full backs. I hope with Oxlade Chamberlain, Young and Walcott he encourages attacking but we shall see.
