I think they can only breathe when they are in water.

They might have moved out of the rivers and ponds and actually onto dry land because of the rain, if you're nowhere near any water at all they might have come a bit far, but maybe they like you

We have a pair of ducks in the garden most years and we don't have a pond either. They make a bit of a mess with the poop but we don't really mind as I think it's a bit special to have them . The first year they came (2000) they made a nest and hatched eleven ducklings. I rang the RSPB and RSPCA who both said to just leave them alone which we did . One by one the little ducklings were picked off by a fox or something. The mother duck finally waddled off to Graves Park with the last one . No sign of a nest this year sadly.

Dip the bread in plum sauce and they will become self basting, saving time in the kitchen later.

Did you realise that you can get a discount on your council tax if your land is used by the council or their foul?

At this time of year when they're pairing up, they wander off all over the place. We had a couple who spent 2 days sitting on a neighbour's roof, well away from any water! I also usually see a couple on a piece of grassland at some nearby flats! They'll soon go if they think they're in any danger or they need something to eat.

They are birds. They'll be fine. They are just birds that like a swim now and again.

In fact they are probably looking to get dry because despite the saying, I doubt that it is actually "lovely weather for ducks"

seriously though, ducks DONT need to be in water constantly to survive.
when i lived down a small village called staithes there used to be some that would walk up and down the main high street, all in a long line lol
