For me the best thing about tonight is that if Chelsea win it, Terry won't be lifting the trophy.

Does anyone remember when English people used to want English clubs in Europe to do well? I don't know a single person who wants Chelsea to go through.

Sure Chelsea were lucky, but Barca were awful.
Messi's passing, first touch and dribbling were at times local league level.
He gets five to six chances a game at mickey mouse level, but against quality opposition at Champions League /international level is not half the player.
A different game tomorrow,Bayern will take Real Madrid on for possession football.

I cannot belive I've just read that ! Haha . Messi 3 times WORLD player of the year can't do it in the champions league ... errr he has just broke the champions league scoring record 14 in one competion

The point of football is to score goals whilst stopping your opposition scoring any goals. At this Chelsea were better over two legs, and they deserved their win.*
Maybe Barcelona can invent a sport where the team who makes the most passes wins. One thing is for sure, that sport won't be as popular as football.

Their own coach admitted as much after losing the first leg; "if football was about possession we would win every time, but what matters is scoring goals" or words to that effect.
Barcelona might have played the most attractive football over two legs (which I didn't watch...) but there are no points for artistic impression. Ugly football that scores goals is better football than beautiful, skilful technique that doesn't.

I suppose we should show grudging admiration for the way Chelseas ground out a result but to have managed only 3 shots on target over the entire two legs and to score with all of them shows how lucky they were.
In many ways though it devalues the Champions League that a side as negative and unadventurous as them are in the final, especially if they play Real Madrid. It'll be two teams putting 10 men behind the ball and playing for 0-0. They might as well just skip the first 90 minutes and make the final a penalty shoot out!

Northern European final...well northern european reserves final after all the cards on both accounts. Who gets told to injure sweinsteiger in the first 15 minutes for Chelsea?

Do you detect a North European "pragmatist" approach laughing at some soft Southern dandies with their "flair"?
A bit like Stoke always beating Arsenal and everyone having a good laugh when Wenger explodes and froths

Pretty much how I see it. A 1970's final. And a good thing too, proper football at the highest level is a welcome change.
