I'm sure this gonna sound like a dumbass question to most but can anyone tell me what the two storey outbuildings that seem to be shared between several houses in the Hillsborough area are?

Round several of the streets near the Malin Bridge tram stop there seems to be these weird buildings every so often. They're in addition to the old outside toilets and I can't think what they were used for. All of them that I've seen seem to have fallen into disrepair.

If anyone can tell me before I go and do some trespassing/exploring that'd be great

Do you mean small buildings attached to the outside lavs and divided halfway up?
If so these were to keep the old type metal dustbins in, with a store space above. They did have wooden doors.
