Hi Everyone

Our cat Eddie went out yesterday and has not returned as of yet and we are very concerned about his safety.

"Well, he's only been out for 24 hours, he's a cat, cat's can be out for days n end" I can hear the thoughts of some people now !!!

Not our Eddie though, he stays very close to home normally. We let him out and we see him either in the back garden or the neighbours garden. He always comes in when called and usually 'shouts' at the door after he's been out a couple of hours.

He is a 6 month old gorgeous short haired ginger male cat. He has 4 white paws and a tiny little white moustache on one side (his left) of his top lip. White chest and under belly. One toe is ginger on his front right paw. His tail is hooped and he is more a champagne ginger than an orange ginger.

Our main concern is that he has been hurt, injured or hit my a car. I've been out looking but i cannot find him.

Please help by keeping an eye out or an ear to the ground and let me know if you see or hear anything.

He is in Lowedges.

Thanks everyone

Fabulous! We like happy endings

I doubt he'll ever understand how much stress and worry he caused by staying out for so long, but please stroke him off me anyway.

Oh- and your OP doesn't mention whether he's neutered or not. If he isn't then that's the probable reason why he stayed out so long.

He's just about the right age for his hormones to be starting to make him smell queens in season (so he could have gone a-wandering with a dazed smile on his face) and also to make him a target for the big strong entire feral toms that are about the place, and it's very possible that he was beaten up or pushed off his territory by one of them.

If he's entire please check him all over for puncture wounds, particularly along his back and all around his ears and front paws, because toms fight with teeth and teeth are pretty mucky things if you don't clean your teeth a lot. Cat bite wounds, especially those hidden under fur, can lead to horrible abscesses if they are left for a couple of days without treatment. If he does have any apparent sore bits then clip the fur above them and have a good look at the skin- if there's a puncture wound then get him to a vet for some prophylactic antibiotics before an abscess can occur.

Thanks for the advice #medusa.

He looks fine all over. had a good look over him when he came home. He looks perfect as usual !!! He didn't even eat that much on his return which makes me think he's maybe been curled up on someone elses sofa for the night !!! He's eating fine now though so the lack of appetite was clearly not that he was poorly or hurt .... propably been a fatty and eaten some other poor kittys tea !!!

So glad to have him home.
