Beat me to it,I was going to ask where to find out as I am going on holiday on Tuesday when heavy snow is forecast.
Can't find anything on BBC travel news so that should mean the road is clear at the moment :-

According to the sign at the bottom of Manchester Road - it's closed.

That was at about 10 a.m. this morning.

Is there a police number that you can ring?

Yeah, I noticed the sign on Manchester Road today, still said it was closed, however I can imagine the sign may stay like that till August!

But Google Street view isnt live, although have met some people who think it is.It was probably filmed on a summers day
2or 3 years ago, so that would not be much help.

Just checked it is a beautiful summers day on the Snake Pass

it's just as well Google street view isn't live though eh? You can see right into folk's houses with it!

I can tell you for a fact that one of my neighbours has a big Cillit Bang in her bathroom most days.

By gum, she can fettle!
