We always oven cook cuts down on any grease ,much more healthy for only a slight loss in taste, pig fat does taste good though.

I've tried it before and they go straight from raw to black and crispy. There's no fat in them so they just dry up completely. Afraid you need proper oven chips!

I was gonna say, you can prob cook them, but they may not turn out as nice as you think.
If what Twiglet say is right, then maybe you should just sprinkle some oil onto it, and cook it on a lower heat setting than u normally do to get a better result ? Either that, or shallow fry it, which is quicker.

Only if you have a deep fat fried oven.

The difference between oven chips and fry chips is that oven chips have been fried a little by the manufacturer before they are frozen to put a little fat coating on them and make them taste like chips. Whereas fry chips haven't.
So if you try to bake fry chips thet usually burn.

You could always buy some of that low calorie spray oil stuff. Lightly spray the baking tray then put the chips on top and spray again. It works with ordinary potatoes

I'd part cook them in the microwave, stir them in a puddle of oil, then lob 'em in the oven

LOL. We're quite a smart lot actually...
I'm just thinking, if it's that much trouble to cook the chips. Why not just microwave a 'baked potato' in less than 10 mins ? Stab it to death, then shove it in. *Ting*. Ready.

Micro chips work
and are quite tasty!
but again they are already partly deep fried to give them the right flavour.

Well we cooked them in the oven at 200c for about half an hour and they were fine (neither of us are dead in anycase!!) Sprinkled salt on them before cooking so don't know if that helped but everything seems to be ok so far
