Hi All,
I have a problem with a leaking Kudos shower (Original 910 side access). I believe the leak is coming from the bottom of the fixing post. To re-seal the leak the whole cubicle would need to be removed and re-fitted. I have consulted a bathroom fitter and they say it would be better to start again and fit a new cubicle. I think they fear damage may be caused when removing the cubicle. The shower was installed less than 4 years ago, so this is a very expensive way of fixing a small leak.
Kudos Customer Support have told me the unit can be removed and re-fitted. I am good at DIY but not confident with this. I do have the full instructions but think it is best left to an expert
My question – do any forum members know of any specialist Kudos shower fitters in Sheffield who may be able to do the job. For an expert I would expect it to be a very easy job.

The problem with removing a shower enclosure is that when removing the profile from the wall, they will usually be damaged beyond repair, and to refit the original enclosure, you will need to get a new pair of profiles. Plus there will be holes drilled in the frame that will probably not match up so will need new holes drilling which will look rubbish. If you don't mind a rough looking job, it aint a problem, but if you want it to look good, you're probably better off getting a new enclosure. I could come out and have a look and give you an idea of the level of work required if you like. It's possible that the leak could be sorted without removal but without seeing the job, it's impossible to say.

thank you and sorry for the late reply. After an astronomical quote to replace the shower cubicle like for like, from a local bathroom fitter, I decided to have a word with Kudos service support. Kudos kindly e/mailed me the fitting instructions, and said it should be an easy job to remove the cubicle without damage. I took the plunge and had a go. The only problem I found was the fixing posts had been sealed to the wall and were difficult to remove.
To cut a long story short although I am an average DIYer I removed and re-fitted the cubicle and the problem is fixed. The problem was down to the fitter not sealing the tray at the foot of the fixing posts, The cubicle had been sealed inside, causing the hollow posts to fill with water and leal out at the foot. Looks like it was leaking from day one. All the sealing had been done contary to instructions. My advice is give it a go yourself, you have nothing to lose. If you work carefully and methodically you can do a better (as in this case) job than the experts.

Hi Greno, I have a very similar problem. I wonder if you would mind clarifying something for me. My Kudos cubicle is leaking at the fixing post, I believe because the shower tray has dropped a millimeter or so, and pulled itself off the sealant to the tiles on the inside.

But even before that happened the sealant on the outside edge around the tray had gone horribly mouldy. The inside has not been sealed (correctly, I believe), apart from the width of the fixing post itself. As far as I understand the fitting instructions that should not be sealed either. Just the inside upright edges, and round the tiles.

But that means water is constantly trapped under the bottom edge of the frame. Surface tension stops it running back into the tray.

Did you get the same problem ? Even with my leak fixed at the corner, I don't see what will stop it. I have currently removed the outside sealant and water doesn't escape, but it doesn't dry up in the gap either ! I don't know what the outside sealant achieves ?

Also I don't know what you mean about the fitter not sealing the tray at the fixing post ? Do you mean outside ?

Sorry to be a pain, but it's just that having fixed yours, you might know what I am talking about !
