Just a heads up to anyone driving near the shops on Newfield Green...
There's a scam going on round there.
A woman (who appears reasonably decent in dress and manner) hurries towards cars waiting at the traffic lights and knocks on the car window, asking for money for the phone, as she has no change.
A friend of mine was in a taxi waiting at the lights the other night, on their way home. This woman asked them for some money for the phone.
She was quite plausible. Both my friend and the taxi driver helped her, and she made as if to go back toward the phone box.
As they were pulling away from the lights, they saw her approach another car in the line of traffic behind them, in the same way!

 Ive had a similar one to this happen to me in the past. Near hillsborough, I had a guy run up to me saying, my cars broken down I need a couple of quid to put some petrol in the car, my little kids in the car. so i was like, sorry i dont have anything. A couple of weeks later, same place, same guy, and I just said no. Then again a week or so later he came running up to me and before he spoke, I just said, no i dont have any money for petrol for your car with your kids in the back! and he just walked off.

There was a woman at the train station tram stop last Saturday about 8pm asking for money so she could get to Stockport. She looked about 25-30 and was well-dressed and articulate, not like the smackheads you sometimes see there. I told her she should just get on the train and give the conducter her name and address. The first stop is Stockport so she couldn't be kicked off. But she carried on cadging.

Happened to me yesterday evening, a lady - possibly deaf (with a speach impediment.) was asking for money to call her mate?? Black hair, looked a little worse for wear and possibly drunk.
