Went to Bratislava last week and that was great. You can fly cheap from Luton or Manchester and book some great apartments over the net.

Krakow is absolutely lovely. A little like Prague but without the overwelming amounts of tourists. Everyone speaks english, and their beer is great and pretty cheap. You can visit Auschwitz and the salt mines, for a few quid, and the food is superb and very very cheap in Krakow. The city is dominated by Wavel, a castle and cathedral which you can wander around for a day or more it's so large.
The citizens of this city are warm and friendly, and the whole city is wonderful.
