Can anyone give me any recepies for the pumpkin i've scraped out.
shame to let it go to waste.

It makes nice soup, add a bit of chilli to it.

Or, if it is in chunks, you can roast it.

Or mash it with spuds.

Or make a pumpkin risotto.

I tried one of those big carving pumpkins last year and it was very disappointing. The amount of stuff I had to add to it to get it to taste of anything made me realise why they are carved and allowed to rot rather than eaten.

I've got a lovely Harlequin in the kitchen. I'm going to invent some sort of pasta dish for half of it and put the other half in a curry.

I've just made a pan of pumpkin soup. Easy and very tasty.

Sweat off an onion in the pan. (you could add garlic here if you like but I can't stand the stuff).

Cut up 500gms of pumpkin and add to the pan.
Add 500mls of chicken stock and simmer until the pumpkin is soft.
Blitz with a hand held whizzy thing and add a bit of cream if desired.

I left out the cream and also added grated carrot and finely sliced celery along with some black pepper to taste.
Perfick.

The left over pumpkin has gone next door for their chickens. I don't know if they'll like it but we'll soon find out.
It's a very good natural "wormer" for tortoises (except mine won't touch it) so it might do the same for the chickens.

My sister makes a really lovely spicy pumpkin and sweet potato soup which goes wonderfully with sweet cornbread muffins.

My wife makes some very tasty pumpkin porridge(I call it) consisting of pumpkin, rice, sugar and honey.

I made some soup but it was quite bland and disappointing, even though I roasted it first. I wonder if the halloween pumpkins are just bred for size, not for taste.

I find it needs garlic, ginger and nutmeg to bring up the flavour and a touch of orange zest helps as well

I think you are right. The smaller squashes have bags of flavour!
