I think it's well smart, and If anything it's worthy of a gallery or maybe even a postcard......
You've gotta take it as art...... Not just saying it looks grim cos Its a bit dark and in black and white......
Look at it carefully and put a bit of thought into it.....and then see what you think.....
I'd like to know what it reminds you of!
Put your thoughts about the picture on the thread, or even give the picture a caption!

That's not Fargate, there's not one charity collector/Big Issue seller in sight!
Nice pic though, quite moody.
I was down near the building works the other day, and was wondering if you'd be able to catch a sunrise/sunset through the windows on the wall they've had to leave standing (didn't have my compass to hand sadly!). Now that could look quite impressive.

I'm not sure I can see it as art - an interesting picture though, yes.

had a rummage through your other images - love the drawings - especially the Kelvin one - the white spaces in the area opposite are class and gives it life.

I love your pictures.
The one that stands out for me is the picture of the steps running up to the University in the rain.
How evocative!
(Hope you don't mind me linking to it)

matt,
i've been doing loads like this recently, shooting into the sun...
the great thing is when you get them back from the printers (i use that old film stuff), you can never tell where the picture is actually of.
i like having to look for landmarks...the fun of the picture is in the shapes and the light and not the content!

glad you like them....
kelvin flats was the most photogenic building in sheffield.
i think they should re-build it just for the sake of the camera clubs

there might be a charity collector, but like everyone else they are reduced to a moody sillhouette!
top tip: always carry a camera and a compass....better still, just take a camera and don't go looking for pictures, let them find you
