Adam Cox and Simon Chevens caused the death of my Mum on Hlaifax Rd last year whilst racing against each other at extremely high speeds. They were convicted and sentenced in May to 5yrs and 7yrs respectively. They both decided to appeal against their sentences and driving bans as they considered them excessive.

I am glad to report that these two sad examples of human life have been refused an appeal. They didn't even get as far as an appeal, the request itself was refused. I hope they will now settle down to prison life, accept that they have a sentence to serve (albeit only half of it) and spend their time contemplating the devastation they and others like them cause to innocent victims and families. However, I doubt they will.

Yes! Just a shame their sentences weren't twice as long and they had to serve every minute of it.

I worked with your lovely mum, she was a gentle beautiful lady and it was a pleasure to know her. These despicable animals should have been sent to prison for much longer and never be allowed to drive again.

Yes, I was hoping to try and move on until these scumbags decided a month after the trial that they were going to appeal. Hopefully now this will mean that I can certainly move on from all the prosecution stuff but moving on from the fact that my mum died unnecessarily when she was loved and needed so much takes a bit more doing.

I have just found out that these two were seen on the same road, racing, exactly a week before they killed my mum. If only someone had reported them

On what grounds were they denied an appeal?

They appealed against the length of their sentence and driving ban. The appeal judge obviously thought they were given a fair and appropriate sentence. Anyone can see that. They were given the minimum sentence for Level 1 Death by dangerous driving of which they were convicted. So why the brainless, thick idiots thought there was any point in appealing I have no idea. Maybe it was the day out they thought they might get. Or just their solicitors boosting their coffers. Either way, it continues their theme of no remorse for killing someone unnecessarily whilst boosting their sad little egos.

The complete lack of remorse has to be one of the most shocking things about this (apart from their actions on the day).

My sympathies for the loss of your mum - I can't begin to imagine how traumatic it must have been for you and your family, particularly with the drawn-out legal process.

Loads of people seem to think the law should apply to everyone except themselves, their friends and family. It was the same a few weeks back when family, friends and neighbours staged a demonstration against the conviction for murder of that boxer, including getting small kids to demonstrate. A great example they were setting to future generations. These people are just selfish trash who think the deaths of innocent people are inconveniences to their egos. The two convicted in your case had a right to appeal, fairly I think, and now that's failed I hope they just get on with their sentences and show some remorse.

I hope you feel you have some justice now although obviously you'll suffer a loss for life. The number of people sympathising with you will always be far greater than the number of idiots siding with the criminals.

This is good news. I hope this decision will help you and your family.

In my opinion - the sentence should have been longer and the driving bans should have been life time bans

What would your mum advise you to do? I reckon that she would advise that you live a good life for both her and you, bitterness will eat you up, the killers have got their sentence, leave it and move on.

God bless.

Im trying my best. I have reached a stage where I now want to do the things for my daughter and myself that she would have also wanted to do for us. She was so thoughtful and put everyone before herself. I know she would just want her precious grandaughter to be happy and have fun. She would have been devastared to know she wasn't going to see her grow up.

I went to a good mate's funeral on Monday, his daughter is just about to deliver, what would have been, his first grandchild, life can be really crap.

Cheeky gits. I don't know how they even had the nerve to appeal such short sentances. They should have been sent down for far longer than a measely 12 years between them in my opinion. I can't believe a life is worth so little.
My condolences to you jojo23.

You are above this, where do you think that their crap is coming from? Let's go for the rest of your life, as against the short life potential of the life takers.

I've told you before, your mum will never be dead as long as someone who loved her is alive, I reckon that she's well proud of you.

Once again, God bless.
