I have just been on the rain rescue site, as I do all the time to look at all the dogs and I have noticed some dates relating back to last year. there are 2 new lurchers on there for example but date underneath is nov 2010!!
Am I looking at the wrong bit of the site??

Its always up to date Ladyb but its because its done as a BLOG format - you have to put the dates in date order to get the dogs to be listed in a particular order. I can't find another way of doing it - its done in iweb and is great apart from this little twitch.

Its usually around 2 00 in the morning when i'm loading dogs in and can't manage to work out ref numbers and get their dates going backwards to go in order.

If anyone knows how to do it better let me know - apple couldn't tell me.

ps - those lurchers are GAWJUSS and both were in the pound dumped bless them.

Ahhh, I see. Hope you don't mind me asking, I just got a little confused!!!

I am afraid I can't help because is am soo bad with computers!!

Those lurchers look sooooo nice, as you may know I love my lurchers!!! shame no cats as I begining to talk Hubby round to dog no 2...

Thanks for clearing that up though. I did recommend the site to someone about a dog on the stray link a couple of months ago. they were wanting a boxer and their was a young boxer x on there and I told them. when I saw them again they said it was dated last year so they didnt think she was still there. On the plus site they rescued a young ABD from another rescue and she is getting on really well so it's good another dog is in a loving home.

Keep up the good work!!!

Thanks LadyB - I will have a good try at doing something about those dates - grrr

Bruce has been in a long time now and is going a bit fed up bless him, still he's warm, dry and fed and alive and thats all we can say for him. Have you seen his video? When we go and let him off in the field he canters around like a young pony - he's so funny.

He was found roaming over a quarry and they knew he'd been there for at least three weeks before they caught him.

Ha those lurchers aren't much good with cats I don't think, but I know Bess has lived with ferrets bless her.

My Moll still chases the cats after almost 2 years!! little cow. she is fine if they are still but when they move so does she!! when all is quiet in the house and the cats are in and chilled she goes up to them and licks them all over and tries to groom them!! It's just the instinct to chase that sighthounds cant help!!

I love Bruce's face. he looks sooo handsome. How old is he??? His eyes just drag you in!!!

ps. how is charlie doing?

Sadly - we still have Charlie too - we can't believe he's not been seen and snapped up - he's such a lovely loving young thing. He goes out fundraising all the time, but not found his right home just yet. We need better pics and will get them hopefully this week.

Bruce is about 8 or 9 (ish), so he's not an easy dog for someone to take on - he's been very stressed and pacing around in his kennel, so we have moved him to another kennel and he's finally settled and going into his bed a bit more. he is so lovely- but life has not been kind to him.

It was funny today - We had the 2 lurchers out and little Daisy - who is wicked with cats. Our wicked Torti (hermini) was sat at the other side of the fence knowing nothing could get her - and tormenting the life out of them all. Bless her.

Oh the joys the of websites lol I'm not sure what the answer in the long time is but for fear of being the bearer of bad news as much as i understand apple's mobile.me / web publishing service is due to be discontinued at some time next year, at that point any site hosted that way will simply vanish - i guess if nothing else at least apple have provided a half decent notice period.

On a more doggy related note its a real shame to see some of the long stayers in rescues / pounds, they say every dog has its day but it would be really nice if that day came sooner rather than later.

OMG I can't believe young charlie is still with you. Have you put him on GAP, Lurcher link and The Hound Lounge??? Ahh bless him after he has been through soo much!! I would have thought he would be snapped up.

Is Bruce a difficult dog to manage? is he good with kids, cats, etc?

GLUGGY - don't tell me that????? nnnnnoooo please

I heard that it wasn't being upgraded, but last I heard they were just going to keep it on as it is? OMG I'm going to go and have a breakdown. Where have you heard that ?

Its very sad Gluggy because the more you update from other websites, the more you see them and in most pounds - those dogs never ever get out of their 4 walls - every day, every minute - every week - for as long as they are in there for - its mind boggling to think.

LadyB - he's a strange dog - he likes some dogs, but he can be a bit dominant - I wouldn't rehome him with children due to him being an older stray - and I have no idea what may/maynot upset him. He wants someone who's got a pretty large garden/allotment/field - who wants a great companion. Sadly - he hates cats.
Not easy for him is it - no matter how cute his eyes are.

They are upgrading it to a "cloud" type arrangement but at the same time discontinuing parts of it some of which is the the web hosting side of things.

More info at http://www.apple.com/mobileme/transition.html but this kinda sums it up

What happens to the iWeb sites that I’ve published to MobileMe?
You will be able to continue publishing iWeb sites to MobileMe through June 30, 2012, even after moving to iCloud. With iWeb you can easily move a site published to MobileMe to another web hosting service and you should do so before that date. Please read this article for details.

Ha thanks Ladyb - we have just had some fantastic A6 cards printed - and will do now each month or every couple of months with the dogs we have in - go down on a friday to crystal peaks Pets at Home, or one of the fund raising days on the front of our website - and pick up a load of cards and get handing them out.

Bruce was at the Rain Rescue dog show last month, and met everyone - he was a proper star and fantastic - but I think the longer he's in kennels, the more frustrated he is getting. Sadly a lot of the dogs in rescue end up with some sort of 'issue' people have left them with, but they can - and do - get over them. It just needs the right home, patience and persistence - these dogs are so clever - its we humans that have to listen to them instead of baraging on what we want all the time.

Why not come down and take some of the dogs out for a walk - you never know - something may just click one day. I never ever push a person to have a dog and if your o/h isn't ready - I wouldn't be wanting him to have one anyway. All the dogs we rehome, everyone has to want them 10000% - because that way - all will work through any issues. As you say - something will come along - its just with the set-up you already have there - its not easy to find something to fit in - but i'm sure one will eventually.

I would love to come to the kennels and walk and I have been meaning to for ages!!! it's just work (as a nurse I work shifts) and kids take up soo much time, and Moll! I walk Moll at least 1-2 hrs a day on a day off and at the very least an hour if I am working. I also have a dog walker but she is walked by me on working days as well.

When kids go back to school I will have more time and I will seriously think about trying to help rescues a little bit as I really want to help it's just soo difficult trying to juggle work life balance at the moment.

Before I got Moll I didn't do much exercise at all. When I gor her I started walking and I totally love it. Last year I got assulted and afterwards I had panic attacks and a real fear of going out but Moll got me through it. She needed her walks and I had a responsibilty to take her out!!! I walked and walked for miles!!! If it wasn't for her I wouldnt have left the house. She is not the perfect dog but she is my dog!!! I would soo love to give back to the rescues for giving me Moll!!! Hopefully when my life calms down I will be able to!!

Thank you Rain for giving us all our friends x x x x

I'm so pleased to hear that story - maybe we should all write a story about how our pets improve our lives and get us through - I know mine do - in many many ways. thanks for your kind words, but they are shared by everyone everywhere who helps anything in need I think - if we all hear a cry - listen to it, and see if we can do something.

I truly believe that most of the troubles in the world are because everyone has gone greedy and totally thinks what can THEY get out of a situation instead of saying - how can I change that opportunity round to help someone else. Its very very rewarding to help and give back - but I do know how hard life is - and i think its harder the more pressures we have piled on us - do what you can when you can and hopefully life can get easier.
