I believe everyone has a rock bottom. A place where people do things that society says they should'nt do. I'm talking about theft, violence, inflicting self damage or even murder.
My question is what impact in your life would make you commit one of the above.
My family is everything to me and if anyone hurt them then I would act without the presence of the law.

Lets see
Violence: Depends on the situation, if someone is attempting to rape or attack any member of my family - the 'attacker' ends up dead by my hands.. simple as that- and I wouldnt care if I ended up in prison for it neither. You mess with someones family- you everything you get in my book.
Self Damage: Does this mean harming myself?
I would never do this at all- not even in my most desperate moments of my life.
Murder: See Violence.
Theft: Is a toughy for me- I suppose if I lost my job, my home, everything in my life and needed to support myself to live- then I would turn to theft but only from shops- never from the general public.

Hunger: Would probably drive me to Violence and Theft.
Personal Survival: If I couldn't walk away or run away from somebodys attack on me for some reason, I'd fight like a wild rabid dog, punching, biting, scratching, gouging, etc.
Self Harm, Suicide: No probs if society and way of life collapses beyond any chance of revival and I can't cope with the reality of it, although i'm wouldn't brave enough to do it with out help from Uncle Jack

That about sums it up for me as well. There are certain situations when all logic goes out of the window. The points above sum them up.

Let me Evolve the Violence bit:
Would you still attempt to defend your familly if it was a Mike Tyson Charactor attacking and you had only your fists?
I hear lots of guys saying they'd defend their family to the end but some I wonder if they would, as some people are really scarey characters. I'll admit I would probably freeze if my family were attacked by someone such as "Lenney Mclean."
I think its easier to say what you'd do in a situation, than what you'd do if actually confronted with the situation. There are some real idiots out there!

Mike Tyson or the late/great Lenny McLean... If either of them were trying to hurt my daughter i would do whatever i could to kill them. If i died in the process then so be it but i would never just stand by and let something bad happen.
If a member of your family is being attacked by a so called 'idiot'. Do you stand back and think "He's really big. He might hit me back"?
Nope... You wade in and give a good account of yourself IMO.

MMMMMmmmmm maybe your right, maybe your wrong. I've never been in the situation and I don't know what your like, so its difficult to say. Words can be easier than actions when the old Fight or Flight reaction kicks in. I'd hope I wopuld fly or freeze if ever in the sitution but because of Natural Evolution I can't guarantee what i'd do, that doesn't make me a Coward or a Hero either way, it makes me a survivor, assess the situation and do what Natural Instinct programmes me to do.
A little story, a while back (when I drove Taxi's) I picked up 2 brothers, one had just looked like he'd gone 10 rounds with Tyson (he was in a mess bleeding from eyes and ears) and he was arguing with his brother, annoyed he didn't help him. His brother's answer was "He was too big bro, he'd have killed me."
Does this make the brother a Coward or a Survivor? The graveyard is as they say full of Hero's!

Just to add, in the annimal Kingdom its normal (but sad) for a parent to lose an offspring to a predator and because they don't defend it, it doesn't make them Cowards, they don't defend it because they would be killed too.
Even though we are Humans, we are only Animals.

I'm sure you're right Cliff Clavin. I can only speak for myself though
When i think of someone hurting any member of my family i feel a deep rage. I wish i didn't but i do. I'm sure lots of other people do too.
Maybe wild animals are smarter than we are?

Rofl... Lenny Mc.Clean is dead, so I don't think I would worry and anyway he's not even that great. it's just a well written book. You do know he actually didn't write about all he times he got knocked out in the ring.. which was alot. In the first round. hahaha. go search on the net for his fight record. far from defeated. I thought he was a legend until I read up on him. he lost loads. often in the first round. he just didn't write about them... just like roy shaw's book didn't mention the last lenny mc.clean fight...
it's still a book..

a persons at his most dangerous when he/she is frightend.
fear+ anger, motivates people to act in whatever way to survive the situation

All's I will say on this is- if you cant stand, you cant fight.
Take someones ability to stand away from them- they are dead in the water no matter how big the opponent is.
I keep hearing about the 'nutters' out on the streets of sheffield and I always think to myself - if they got into a fight with someone who took their legs out from them, how long would it be before they are begging or crying like a baby?
Not long I would bet.
