im in sheffield, s20 to be precise, and have a usb midi keyboard.
the usb socket broke, and is completely detached from the board. it may have disappeared now too... but hey.
was wondering if anyone could help me out, i really need it replacing and fixing, idk if the fact that the board ran on usb power is a factor here, but i would like help, and im pretty (ok, really) skint, hence the need for a repair rather than new board, but if absolutely necessary i will pay or trade items for the repair.
please can anyone help me out?

edit: can any mods correct my thread title please, i didnt notice it. and if this is in the wrong place, please inform me where it should be, why its wrong, and not just close it like ive experienced before, its really irritating, and lazy. thanks

Actually, it is the first port of call for many SF users, especially those that are likely to be able to help you.

its an M-Audio keystation 49i. the part needed is a USB type b PCB i think. i just dont know what im doing with circuit boards. a friend of mine has offered to look at it on the 18th if no one else can, but hes not that confident.

edit: sorry, missed that post, ill take some pictures tomorrow and zip them in my public dropbox with a link.

Sounds like a soldering job. I would recommend somewhere but the only guy I know is Pete Hartley and I don't know if he'd deal with something that new, I used him to repair a 70s amplifier but that's not exactly a modern USB MIDI keyboard.

Sorry about the delay..musician pun intended!

I have a M-Audio keyboard and have just taken it apart and had a good look at the usb socket (don't worry I needed to fix a dead key anyway) and its soldered to the printed circuit board. If its broken like you say its probably broke the circuit board as well, even so it would be hard to fix or solder a new one in.

I've just looked at the back of your model and it also has a normal DIN midi out socket so you could get one of these to convert it.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Adapter-USB-.../dp/B000XRI3CC

It would probably work out a lot cheaper than fixing the usb socket but, you will then have to use a power pack and the audio out jack.

Hope that helps.
