My son has just informed me that he has seen a Mum and her 4/ 5 kittens in the back yard of an abandoned building in attercliffe (around the old banners)area. The shop next door has said they have been seen many times and my son has checked and the only entrance to the back yard is locked by a large padlock (rusted up) that leads into the disused yard. The kittens were seen today from the roof of the next door shop, snuggled asleep together & the mother is often seen rushing across the busy road - im sure foraging for food.
Can anyone help?. I think i can get hold of a trap and if the kits are hungry they should appear from behind the gate. These kits are living in such a rubbish dump and Im sure the mother is doing her best - But its not a place for the young or the mother and if they are not caught and spaid etc then the cat cycle will go on and on.
Suggestion/ help desperatly needed to catch these babies - Im not too bad with dogs but im absolutaly rubbish when it comes to sorting out cats - but im willling to learn- Thanks in advance Nix

Come on you lot I think its time again for a bit of a group effort here, this Mum and her babies need our help, there is a rescue space if we can get them...but it needs to be done during the day.
So is there anyone that can help by giving up some time in the day to trap these cats on a regular basis? and then to transport them to rescue?
This little Mummy cat must be struggling so hard to look after her babies, if she is killed on the road what will happen to them then?
Can anyone help?

Hi im Rabia.iqbal's sister... i can help as well.
Where abouts are they? I saw a cat one day last week cross the road from the arena to a disused shop and went through the gates to the yard bit but it was locked.. this was about half 3 in the morning. Although i didnt see any kittens and the cat may not be a stray etc. Just wondered if that was the same cat we're on about?

Thanks Red_Angel I am going to try and get this sorted a bit

Hi All, thanks so much for caring - Yes this poor mum is going to get killed trying to find food for herself and if the kits start to venture out gosh know what is going to happen to them. Ive Pmd everybody who has offered with my number so that we can devise a plan and Red Angel has kindly offered to meet around 10am tomorrow morning to suss out the situation and we will take it from there. I can call down and meet up but unable to stop as I will have to get back to work so that Im not sacked (again) ha. Is there anyone else free in the morning?. I really dont know how this is going to pan out but at least we can try. If you could pm me if you are free - we are all novices and have not used a trap before but Im sure we will learn - hopefully very quickly!!. Thanks all again in advance Nix

Have you got a trap to make use of? if not I have arranged for one, also I think if people are free it needs to either be one or two people not lots and spread it out throughout the week, really there should be nothing to do for more than one person unless its just for company, I have also had offer of a really good foster home for these cats.

I hope you manage to get the poor mummy and her babies... some people don't deserve pets.

Hey peeps, I'll be there with my son tomorrow. I don't have access to here by my phone (old fashioned one lol) but i'll update you all as soon as I return. If we don't catch them i'll certainly PM Nicholls5 and Moonbird so they can keep the relevant ppl informed.
I agree with Moonbird - too many people might have the opposite effect. If we use the cage though it needs checking regular so we don't leave this mum away from her kittens for too long (if we had to leave it overnight for example)
Fingers crossed.
Red x

The problem is - we cant leave the trap as we cant access the disused building as the gate has a large padlock on, so we will have to place the cage outside the gate and cross our fingers. If we leave the cage - im sure it will go on the nearest scrap van so need to stay with it - Problems already eh?

Oh Yeah.... hmmm. Right, well I'm available all day and don't give up easily. As long as we don't scare mum away and get her 1st, kittens should be easy.
Got a feeling i'll eat my words tomorrow!! hahaha
I have cat food, cat toy (incase i can get kittens/mum to play and come closer), flask of tea, plenty of patience, cage, cat box .....
anything else that might help?

In that case what needs to happen is the person who feeds them perhaps should stop while the trapping is happening so that the cat has to go to the trap for food, obviously if there are days that no one can go the person should feed her, it can be done if we all try to help
