i'm aware of sites like yousendit and rapidshare but can't figure out how to use them!

i would very much like to create links to things i've made (i.e. no copyright problems), like files of my own music and slideshows of my photographs (these are saved as windows media video, about 5mb).

i want to put these links on places like...erm...sheffield forum.

anyone help please??

all you do on www.yousendit.com is

1) goto yousendit, in yer browser
2) browse to the file you want
3) click send it
4) wait while the file uploads
5) once its uploaded the screen will change and there will be a lovely nice url to the file, copy that and paste into a notepad text file and save to your desktop
6) when you want to give somebody the file, paste it from the text file to wherever, an email to them, msn, irc, then they double click the url and start downloading

the file only stays there so long on the free accounts

lol, see, its easy really

people slag those sites off for being new and crap
but i like em, means you can share things easier, no messing aroung uploading files to your website / ftp space etc, creating links and stuff

just browse, click send, paste link into something

Drag file into ftp client, type www.mydomain.co.uk/filename and send that to someone... hardly hard work!

not as simple as that rich
depends what your domain name is for a start, some are more complicated to remember than others

as i dont use ftp very often, in fact, normally wonly when im updating my website, so i have to go found the name in a text file where i have it saved, then work out which dir it might be in on the domain, then get the file name/extension exactly spot on...........easier to use one of these new breed of fileshare sites tbh, specially if your just giving somebody a picture or something
