I haven't watched it but I don't think the subject is automatically off limits. Police do a dangerous job but there are still comedies about them. Doctors do a serious job but there are still comedies about them. It should be handled in a respectful way though. I think soldiers can take a joke like anyone else. Comedy can even provide light relief at a difficult time while being supportive of the soldiers, like Dad's Army.

I agree , we have looked at certain proffesions to provide us with our late night comedy . But surly due to the some times devious reasons given for us being in thier in the first place ، and the record amount of boys being killed this sort of programme could have been shelved ?

Personaly I feel it is not appropriate , I wonder what families of killed soliders think ?

I remember a few years ago there was a furore over a comedian telling an joke which offended a load of people.

I can't remember what the joke was, or who told it, but Rowan Atkinson was interviewed and quite vehemently defended their position saying in comedy nothing should ever be off limits. If someone finds something funny, then it's funny. The bottom line was a joke is a joke and just because it causes offence to a few, or it's a hot topic at the time, doesn't necessarily reflect the views and opinions of the person telling the joke.

That said I haven't seen the programme the OP refers to, so maybe it is ill advised or maybe it's a good show. I'll withold judgement for now.

It isn't comedy that is bringing people home in body bags though. If you are offended because people are dying then you are anti-war and not anti-comedy. I doubt that if the show was laughing directly at people dying then it would even get on the BBC. You have a right to be offended, but that doesn't mean the show shouldn't be shown.

Personally I'm offended by 'My Family'. How that is still on tele I shall never comprehend.
