Anyone interested in sharing a beach house in Newquay for the whole Month of August this year for some serious surfing? I am spending the whole Month there and have a beach house available with loads of spare rooms.....cheap rent, right close to the main beaches and not far from the town centre night-life (AND ITS GOOD!!!)

From a Cornish Person it is probably the worst place to be. Full of shops that sell Junk and the place is just full of annoying emmets, not to mention the run down houses

Depends what you want from a place doesnt it? I dont go to NEWQUAY for shops I assure you!!!! I go for the surf scene and quite frankly the rather exciting night life on the town circuit.
The rent for the whole house which has 5 bedrooms will work out at £600 divided by 5 so thats about £120 per person for the whole month, but only if I get five people that is. Its right on the beach more or less, literally 2 minutes walk and about 12 mins walk from the town centre roughly, car parking for 3 cars plus unrestricted road parking.

Sorry to have offended the grumpy yocal, I think goldenfleece hit the nail on the head, I'm hoping to get a bit out of Newquay than shopping.
Anyway man would it be possible to rent the place for a week or do you just want someone to sign on for the whole month? Me and about 2 friends were looking for somewhere for a week, interested?
The waves, the waves, summer's coming!
Carry on,
Dave

Think I want people for the full month really, else I then have to go about getting others for the other weeks or having to fork out all the rent myself....maybe that wont be too difficult though, leave it with me.

Cornish you say...
Id have to agree, the surf is good in newquay, but... Polzeath is the place to be if you are a serious surfer!

also spelt POLSEATH actually....no one seems to be really sure is the S or the Z is the real spelling....the locals prefer the version with the Z but a lot of maps use S as well.
back to the point, NEWQUAY is the surf capital mainly due to the fact it has good night clubs where everyone goes afterwards.....in fact the bays further up the North Cornish Coast ARE better bays for surfing.....but Polzeath itself is a tiny town/village and no nightclubs as far as I know.....
its down to a matter of choice of course.....Newquay is rammed with surfers not so much due to the delights of Fistral Bay, but more for the fact it is also rammed full of girls out for surfer men, and there are many many more bars to crawl round than the smaller and more traditional holiday resort of Polzeath...
people are fickle....

One of the reasons I said it was one of the worst places to be in the Summer. It is crammed full of girls who know nothing about Surfing, but just want to look good attached to a surfer bloke regardless of their personality.
Also it is full of nightclubs, shops just out to make money regardless of the quality, service they deliver. It doesn't give a good impression of Cornwall.
Polzeath spelt with an S No I don't think so, definitely spelt Polzeath. It would be like saying Penzance was spelt Pensance.
Have to agree with RPG that the some of the smaller bays up the coast are better for surfing.

Hmmmmm...its NOT just THAT sort of girl though. I was down there last Summer and found the female population to be actually quite nice, and nothing like the rampaging drunken girls you get in Ibiza or somewhere like that. Newquay just has a bad image for that.....I personally did not see TOO many girls who might fit that category and I was out clubbing every night and in all the main bars.
I actually met up with a beautiful female surfer who actually COULD surf, and who was not just down there for a week trying to shag lots of male surfers!!

I went to Cornwall last summer and found Newquay to be horrible, didn't like Polzeath either though - full of posh public school boy types and had the most expensive campsite we went to with hardly any facilities. - I'm not a surfer though - each to their own.
(For other people I'd recommend St Ives or Marazion - Penzance was a bit dead)

Went to Newquay last year and loved it. I'm going again this year with 7 friends, that's if we ever manage to find a mini bus that wont cost us more than our entire holiday!

Sorry, speaking as a person who would buy an old beat up wreck and would actually restore it from the floor upwards.....
Yes, they aRE a little of the pricey side for a grade 1 model, still there always bargains to be found.......
