In addition to this famed PC security installed on my new laptop, is there anything else needed to keep the machine secure?
I'm thinking like; Spybot, AVG, Superantispyware, etc?
Thanks

I'm probably opening myself up to flames here but IMO Norton is crap, I had it on my PC several years ago, and it wrecked my PC worse than any virus!

I'd heard that, but got it as part of a bundle with the machine.
So, anyway, do i need anything else with it?

I would recommend Comodo Anti-virus, can't remember the website for it but it'll be on Google, I use it and it's excellent.

Thanks. Is the free AVG still a good compliment to the above?

Microsoft Security essentials is the best freeware AV. Fast and unobtrusive.

Norton is usually only free for a month, if its a year then keep it, otherwise remove it and install free ones.

This Norton's a year. Just wondered what to compliment it with.

You've no need to compliment it with anything else really as it gives all round protection. Since Syamntec overhauled it's products in 2009, Norton today is a lot different to the Norton of yesteryear.
I'd add Malwarebytes for the occasional on demand scan & a keep a custom hosts file updated.
Keep things updated - OS, Browser(s) and your other programs - especially those that have a browser plugin. Surf with common sense.
I wouldn't necessarily choose Norton if given a choice myself (not because there's anything particularly wrong with it), but if given a choice between it and Comodo - for the average user - I'd lean towards Norton.
Comodo - Decent firewall & HIPS - poor AV.

Definately don't add AVG. Two antiviruses is a no no.
