I think they're all compatible with each other. Only difference is:
SATA's transfer speed is 150mbps
whereas SATA II's transfer speed is 300mbps
Depending on your motherboard, SATA II may not give you the speed that you expecting from it. Personally, I wouldn't bother with this if you're not dealing with massive data transferring.
