where is the best places in Sheffield to buy a normal SATA 2.5 Hard Drive with the following basic specifications...

7200 RPM
250 GB
16 MB BUFFER

it has to fit an HP Pavilion dv9700, service tag is dv9820ea

am looking for the best value for money, also, can SATA II and III work if the laptop originally came with just a normal SATA I drive

thanks

On-line. Or dare I say it, PC World. Independent shops rarely sell them.

Hi Jason,

I think they're all compatible with each other. Only difference is:
SATA's transfer speed is 150mbps whereas SATA II's transfer speed is 300mbps.

Depending on your motherboard, SATA II may not give you the speed that you expecting from it. Personally, I wouldn't bother with this if you're not dealing with massive data transferring.

Why does it have to be in Sheffield?
Order one from Scan and it will be with you next day.
