Right, I have just booked our honeymoon, in my name and my partners current name, we get married on the saturday and go on the monday.

Her name will obviously change when we get married, however like i say ive booked the holiday in her name and her current passport still says her current name(obviously).
How do i go about this, can she keep her current name untill we come back or will she be carrying a false passport once we sign the marrige papers.

You can use a valid passport with your maiden name untill it expires

Just leave it and say nothing until you get back. Way to much hassle to change it beforehand.

As Stevematt says, you can continue to use the passport in her maiden name until it runs out, as long as any hols are booked to match the name in the passport there isn't a problem

You have 2 choices, the first is to travel on the passport as it is which isn't illegal. The second is to change the passport prior to the wedding and honeymoon. I'm not sure how you do it because I travelled in my maiden name on my honeymoon but the travel agent assured me that I could. Get in touch with the passport agency if you want clarification but it is perfectly legal to travel on the current and valid passport.

Given that there may be a public sector strike at the end of June and that the Passport issuing people may well be involved, you would probably be advised to leave things as they are until after you get back.

AFAIK you can leave your passport in your old name as long as you like, you just have to remember to book your flights in the same name. My wife waited till hers expired after we got married.

If it expires in 2013 say, just leave it til then. saves paying money uneeded until then.

It costs a fortune to get your name changed on a passport which is why mine is still in my maiden name 5 years after I got married! I recommend that you take a copy of your marriage certificate with you just in case...

sometimes you have to be careful with some airlines, when you have booked flights online. The names in the flight booking and the ID you present may have to match, exactly. Even a misspelling, like Philip instead of Phillip, can be enough for them to deny boarding. It may sound unbelievable but it's true.

You can fast track it, but it's costly and ain't sure even with that if you have time.
My hubby , me and three children sent off for passports begin last month. And we have the little red book on way to us lol

Everyone told us they take weeks but it was quiet easy to be honest..

Your wife's name does not change automatically by law when you marry; it is her choice whether or not to change it. So far as her passport is concerned, it's best if she chooses not to.

She can keep her current name forever if she wishes - signing the marriage register makes absolutely no difference to what surname she chooses to go by

It's even worse when it's TSA checking your ID.

My brother-in-law tried to board a flight.

TSA denied him boarding, because he has the same name as somebody on the 'no fly' list.

He said: "Well, if I don't get on that aircraft, it doesn't go anywhere."

The TSA man became aggressive: "Are you threatening the flight, Sir?"

"No, I'm the bloody pilot!"

(You might've thought the cap, blue jacket with the gold rings around the arms, wings on the front, blue trousers and white shirt would've been a clue - but TSA aren't noted for being particularly sharp.)
