I'm trying to find the obituary of a friend and theres half the country's obituary there!!! what happened to just local people ? Am i doing it wrong?

Half the country... are you sure? It seems to have been whittled down to a page or 2 now.

Thankyou for the link...Im on the star web site,,ive clicked announcements, the published today, then obituary and got hundreds from all over ..not sheffield...the link you sent me is all mixed up and is showing deaths from 2010 and says Showing 11-20 of 3606 results for ‘obituary???

If you go onto Star website, click on family notices, near the bottom of the page, this will bring iannounce up, put name of person in the notice, what type of notice it was and what date the notice appeared and that should bring the notice up
