What are your thoughts on the "old" Niche nightclub on SIDNEY STREET, re-opening as "Nemos" - a new 'members only' nightclub?

Next Level Entertainment Limited, which is applying to re-open the old Niche site on Sidney Street, will have their application considered at a Sheffield Council licensing board hearing on Thursday 19th May, 2011.

Well, Niche, was only last year allowed to re-open as a 'members only' club on Charter Row, by the Licensing Board Commitee, b4 it's owner decided himself to close it's doors.

This "new" club, if it get's approval, will also be run as a 'members only' club.

It will not be known as "Niche," and will take the name of "Nemos" instead.

They should play something else other than bassline. Get some UKG on the go.

It would be interesting to know what the laws on nightclubs close to residential areas are and whether there are minimum distances. I have read of a nightclub some 30 yards away from a residential area and Nemos would be further away than that.

Nemos is Niche in disguise - had enough of that place and the trouble that goes with it!

If Nemos opens as club playing music other than niche music then i'm all for it - if they play niche music with their usual djs then NO WAY!

Its just stupid the licensing board revoking their license at sidney street, but then allowing them to operate at limit, vibe/niche - charter square, empire bar!! All venues have had licensing issues for the same reasons they shut Sidney street down!!

Great idea. The more clubs the better. I doubt it will get off the ground though

I hope so. The days of the old Niche are truly gone, we need to move forwards. I'd love to see a bit of genre diversity in there, bassline, UK garage, filthy trange, house, electro etc. The potential is there.

Absolutely, Spyda, it doesn't have to be bassline does it, the market is there for all the above mentioned!

well said, Sharp87, I thought the same. So narrow minded and predictable. If the clientele change and the music variation, why would or should it be a "gangsta" place? Sheffield NEEDS a vibrant nightlife and needs to get away from the "gansta" ****! Why can't Nemos start that new generation move to something new and different and where the police just stop harrassing all the time for the sake of it. It's like they have a vendetta against certain places and certain clubs. Police arn't here to make the rules and say what can and can't be, just because of a few mindless cretins, who want to spoil things for the majority. Niche HAS 2 die in the way we once new it and the Police need to change their attitude also and let the past go and move on into a better future. Sheffield needs it too.

Niche was not closed by the authorities and the new club "nemos" is going to operate under the same conditions as Niche on charter square, that the police were happy with, as it was their recommendation it was run like that in the first place.
How can they object to a club being run tightly to the police tune.
