My firm may be moving up to the northern boundaries of our fair city. Living at woodhouse mill this will involve a daily ride up and down the M1. We have family up Stocksbridge and the hills look appealing. Whats it like to live there?

It's a nice area, quiet and hardly any trouble afaik... Only downside is that it's quite far out and not that well served by buses so you need to be a car driver really in order to get about.

The 58 & 57 Buss service from the city centre is pretty regular. The ideal solution would be a tram link using the old railway line - will common sense prevail?

Unlikely IMO... And linking the Tram to Stocksbridge would possibly mean extending the track from the terminus at Middlewood, which the locals would object to, all the original upheaval when they did the roadworks for the Tram was a nightmare.
