So i trust we will see Streetforce at Manor Top (opposite the Spar) towing all the cars parked on a urban clearway blocking the left hand lane all day everyday, including Streetforce vans,Kier Vans etc!

And dont forget to tow all the parked cars outside the Spar near the train station ,or the Bus stop next to the train Station.

Now the council has these new powers all our problems are solved go in peace and enjoy your un gridlocked roads!

WHATEVER!

PS,they must all qualify to be towed as they generally have they hazards on!

These aren't actually new powers - they are powers that the Police have, and always have had. But the council will be undertaking the actual "towing away" once it's been authorised by the Police.

Yes, I hope they are going to use these powers to enforce bus lanes and clearways too.

I rang the manager of Parking Services this week to report cars parked in our residents only bays. He said they don't have any powers to tow them away. Does anyone know if this is true or not?

If it's private land then they do not have the power to act. If it is public highway then they do have power to act, but not to tow vehicles away unless they are abandoned.

Let ALL their tyres down. They might not do it again, but then if they have done it once, they probably will. I have a relative who lives in town with a private parking area. He constantly has problems with alien parkers.

I was thinking about doing that, but I have to be careful as my wife is doing a law degree.

"It wasn't the council's fault that the bus broke down but we have to do everything we can to avoid that situation happening again."

Has there been any suggestion that the broken down bus was the fault of the council ? What the council are to blame for is the restrictions imposed on the free flow of traffic that result in one broken down vehicle causing city-wide chaos, and imposing these restrictions before the main relief link was even started.

And rather than having bodies out there at critical junctions directing traffic they should have traffic wardens with the power to impose on-the-spot fines for motorists abusing yellow boxes and causing obstructions by selfish behaviour.
