Hi allotmentman!
Not really into gardenning, but [...] We did used to have an allotment just off Riverlin Valley Road when I was a kid, and cars coming down Hagg Hill too fast used to crash into it all the time!

Ah, i'm not so much a dog person, I just liked the sound of the name! We've just recently got two retired racing Greyhounds, however.

I took an allotment on Hagg Hill last year. It is a small nightmare. Not as bad as it was and it pays that my niece is seriously dating a guy who runs a gardening supplies/hire shop
Industrial Strimmer and an rotavator thingy!! My arms ache from the weekend. We have plenty of privit. Not sure how long the allotment has been left dormat. It has wonderful pontential though I haven't yet settled on exactly what I want to grow.
I have found a wonderful supplier of traditional herbs such as Mugwort, Henbane, mandrake, Comfrey, Good King Henry - so on so forth. I would liek to grow veggies but I ain't driving yet and it is a bit travel up there.

Hi Moon Maiden --nice too hear from you-after welcoming me to this site-allotments are great fun and exercise--if you have the time- however if your after herbs-many can be grown in pots more succesfully than being grown in the open ground-Comfrey is a wonderfull herb and a great plant o use as in your compost heap. Sorry for the short reply and I know it may sound silly this time of day--but i am going to have a kip now , as i am eraly shifts- The problem is is that this site is too intereatsing--hope too spaek to you soon--

I love my garden. Now, when I say garden, I mean my tiny paved area - around 15 feet by 10 which has loads and loads of potted plants, shrubs, flowers and trees.
On the perimeter walls, we have several troughs which are teeming with colourful lobelia at the height of summer and at the back we have a double bench ( the kind with a small drinks tray between the seats) and we spend all of our spare time out there in summer, weather permitting of course.
Tiny though it may be, we had a fantastic Mexican-style party out there last summer and we had over thirty guests.

Hey, even small gardens are good for having parties in. Our old place had a tiny little yard, with gravel throughout, yet in the summer you could get a BBQ on the go and have a great time! Especially when all the surrounding gardens were doing the same!

It's ace!
Digding that extention lead out of the cellar and dragging the stereo outside, getting the fridge stocked up with loads of stubbies and setting the burgers to frazzle! Absolutely fantastic!
In fact, a forum garden party should be on the cards in the summer! We'll all descend on your garden! I'll bring the sausages!

We've had dogs all my life. We recently lost a lurcher, was getting on a bit - we think he was about 13 years old but we're not sure cos he was a rescue dog.
How come you've not taken another dog on? I think it's pretty rewarding to see a new dog get used to it's new home! These two greyhounds of ours have always had a kennel life until we took the on, and they seem very greatful of the blankets we provide, instead of the straw beds they had in the kennels!
All they do all day is lie on their backs with their feet in the air...
