Are there any? I noticed a sign on the public toilets by the town hall saying 'showers' but are they really there, and are they fit / safe to use?

And are there any secure lockers anywhere?

I think id prefer to take a bottle of shampoo and run through the fountain in the peace gardens than venture down those steps into those toilets

My friend used those showers a couple of times when he was having his bathroom redone, he said it was an experience! He seemed to think it was worth doing though, if only to have a good story to tell ;-)

They used to be wonderful many years ago, My mum used to be a cleaner there and the showers shone.

The toliets were staffed throughout the day, and many of Sheffield's homeless used them on a weekly basis.

I remember mum making birthday cakes for the regulars

Not been in them for years though

I went in the toilets next to the town hall a few weeks ago to change my sons nappy and they were clean enough. If the situation ever arose I don't think I'd have a problem showering there

There was a bloke called Steve who was always in those showers, always smiling.

Apparently, he spent all day in the showers and even offered to help the others put soap all over their backs.

Some people can't be helpful enough

Wouldn't you use ponds forge and have a quick swim too?

Some public buildings, the universities and even some private workplaces provide showers.

I'm more thinking of those days when I might want to look smart for work but pushbike into town and need somewhere to shower, change and leave a set of clothes and preferably my bike.

It seems like such a simple requirement but I don't know of anything at all.

The governments cycle2work scheme had a shower policy, but I don't think there was much take up in the private sector.

Some places do provide these facilities. Generally public sector/universities.

The university showering facilities are open to all, just like their toilets.

Seriously? That might do the trick. Where? How? etc.

Thats the bloke - he had me dropping the soap and picking it up 20 times - he always stood behind me when I did this, never knew why

He also told me that jumping up and down while in the showers was good for stress relief.

What's wrong with you? Have you never ever used a shower other than your own home?? Never used one at a gym, swimming pool, work etc...
