hiya
I had an aerial man come and change my aerial to digital last summer. At the same time he fitted a splitter and booster and ran cables to lounge and 3 bedrooms.
Problem - I never got a signal. broken pictures etc.
Have sought the help of another aerial man who say i need to replace the digital aerial and fit an external splitter (as the one used is internal with points taped). He wants £140 to do these two things, is this reasonable? bear in mind that he is not changing the wires / internal points etc.
thanks for your help

Try Ecclesfield Aerials 2577426, always found him very competitive on prices.

Who on earth did the original work, didn't they check their work before leaving . Firstly does the area where you live rrecieve a good signal, check with neighbours then try connecting a TV to the main feed without using the booster or splitter so then you'll know whether it's a fault with the aerial. Could be something as simple as a loose connection but you need to do a bit of investigation, process of elimination initially.

to be completely honest the lad that did it didnt have the right equipment to check whether it was even pointing the right way, and after spending the whole day messing with it i'd had enough!
i dont know whether its a case of just altering the direction of the aerial....
apperently we're not in that bad an area to gain the majority of channels, but we will see.

I know when I had this problem which wasn't rectified with numerous re-tunes and it looked as though my ariel was pointing in the same direction as my neighbours I discovered that the wire had been pulled on and so was no longer making a good connection in the little round plug. It looked fine with a visual inspection but as soon as I unscrewed it the problem was obvious.

Considering your sig I'd say that's the worse advice ever.
To the op. Get in a pro. Ask for a spec/quote, not an estimate. And guarantee of works. Don't pay until satisfied. I would say for the amount a professional wouldn't ask for anything upfront anyway.

I'd recommend Jimmy at J & A aerials.
Friendly, knowledgeable and won't rip you off.
He's fitting a new aerial for me this weekend. Explained all the options and cost involved when I asked about a splitter to put an extra co-axial feed into my bedroom.
Would definitely use him again if I had need to.

I used a company recommended on this thread to fit a new aerial a couple of years ago. It was my own fault for not double checking but it isn't suitable for digital reception. I can't believe anyone would think that was acceptable but I suppose I should have checked.

Can't say on price but the only people i'd go to would be those behind the www.aerialsandtv.com website as posted above (A.T.V. on Langsett Road)
They quite clearly know their apples.
