This Saturday (5th February), an 8 week programme of work will begin on Mansfield Road as part of the latest phase of our £16.7 million revamp of Sheffield's water mains to further boost drinking water quality in the area.
The work will see our contractors Balfour Beatty Utilities replace a 400m stretch of Victorian-era water pipes. Beginning on Mansfield Road at the junction with Newlands Road, work will progress in stages along the road up to the junction with Hurlfield Road where it will then cross the dual carriageway before advancing along Hurlfield Road itself up to the junction with Ridgeway Road.
We recognise that this latest work is likely to cause some disruption, but in order to try and keep this to an absolute minimum, one lane in both directions on Mansfield Road will always be kept open throughout the duration of the project.
We recognise however, that people using Mansfield Road throughout this period may experience some delays and we apologise for inconvenience caused.
