We've all seen/heard about the old feller pushing a barrow around Sheffield between steelworks. A story the late George Bonsall of Bonsalls Haulage (God Bless him) told me once about him, he was delivering some very long springsteel bars about half inch diameter. When he arrived at his destination it was just a door and on the other side was an passage which led to the workshop. He knocked and nobody answered, so he "posted" the bars through the letter box and they just fitted, except they dropped down with the springiness of the steel and stuck half way down the door on the inside. When the owner arrived he had to bash the door down to get in. Something else, can anyone remember the poor crippled soul who went to Wednesday games in the 3 wheel hand peddle car? We used to push him up Penistone Road. And what about the Star seller with the big feet and quarter to three walk who used to walk in front of the North Stand with his son selling newspapers?

When I was a lad there used to be a man who used to sit on a board with runners outside the Ritz Cinema.

I wonder if he was the same man who you saw at the football matc hes.

Although he was badly handicapped he always was in good spirit and seemed to have lots of friends.

I always wondered about him and was always thankfull for my lot in life when I saw him.

Can anyone tell who he was and his story?

I can remember the man who used to go to Hillsborough, he had a long black invalid carriage that always seemed to have a cover over it no matter what the weather. I did wonder if he had any legs at all.
