If it's a private company, no it isn't.

I am aware that Excell parking do this type of thing but this is a company Ive never heard of before. www.vehiclecontrol.co.uk its even got a premium telephone number who skank £1.50 per minute if you ring and try to sort it. Ive even heard these companies harassing people with bailifs!

Just ignore it, its not a fine just an invoice which you don't have to pay!

Its the same company as Excel, don't pay and just ignore all correspondence, there are more threads on the forum and other websites about them! They don't send in the bailiffs only the Council and police can do that for parking offences

we went to the other new Wetherspoons (the one which used to be Aunt Sally's). We paid £2 for parking which is refunded against the cost of food in the pub. Can't really blame them, stops a lot of people parking there and visiting the hospital, without using the pub. So perhaps the one at Ecclesall Road operates the same system.

You'll get two or three letters with increasing threats, the final one threatening bailiffs, then nothing, they get fed up! Do not respond to any of the letters. It would cost them more to take you to court that what its worth and they would almost inevitably lose!

its not just against food, you can just buy a half and get your parking validated, its to stop people parking there and going visiting or working at the hospital. the sheaf island has NO parking facility!

Private companies like Excel are not allowed to police the public highway and issue invoices for parking on double yellow lines, so whether there were double yellow lines at the side of Sheaf Island is not admissable

if you mean that little one way service road to the flats and the dental practice, i think you'll find there are? unless you parked in those loading bays then you have still illegally parked.

Techophobe ... the bottom line is ... don't pay the invoice! I've got a glovebox full of them ... they won't pursue it, they do look demanding but they are worthless bits of paper, if you were in any doubt see a solicitor! The only people allowed to issue fines is the magistrates court on behalf of the police or council ....thats it.

Bottom end of eccy road is too close to town to allow free parking given what the ncp's charge. I agree the tickets are private and no bailifs will be involved but the pub has a right to ensure their carpark is for their customers so if you make a habit of parking in it and walking off site then you'll probably get problems worse than unenforcable private tickets.
Best bet is to park where you are allowed to by the owner of the space you park your vehicle in then the issue doesn't arise.

Were you using the pub, or just abusing their parking facility?

I'd also like you to move further back in your story. Who gave you permission to park on this piece of private land?

I find these threads amusing, people park where they shouldnt, get charged and start crying.
Dont do the crime if you cant pay the fine.
Oh and people have been taken to court over these(and lost), recieved ccj's and been blighted with bad credit. All due to not being able to read simple signs or follow simple parking rules.
