Re: Myrtle Springs School on Fire
There was a small fire at the school today that was safely and easily brought under control by the Fire Services. The school will be open as usual tomorrow unless you hear otherwise on local radio announcements. Thank you.

Just spoken to 2 Myrtle Springs student, they have stated that the fire was started delibrately in the Girls toilets, this has then spread across two corridors, also spread upwards to floors above!
Nothing has been disclosed by the school as to whether they will open tomorrow but pupils have been allowed to go home early today providing their parents are at home!
From what i have gathered here, nobody has been hurt in the blaze, but as for the extent of the damage all I know is that it has spread fairly fast and it could be extensive!

Isn't it time someone asked some serious questions about this school?

Allthough the news that we've heard recently about Myrtle Springs has been rather concerning, from what I am aware the school has been showing vast improvements over the last couple of years!
But one thing that i thing we all need to take into consideration is that you can't take the whole school's name in vain, im sure its only a select number of pupils who are causing these problems.
This now has to be investigated by the Education department and any action taking shouold be done prompt!!!

I wonder if the sheep effect is in progress here, similar to the way in which riots gain momentum. Not wishing to be alarmist but I hope it doesnt escalate.

Just read your posting about Myrtle Springs needing a lollypopman on East Bank Rd.
Have you seen the kids when they leave school? Many of them purposely run in front of traffic and I'm amazed that more of them haven't been injured. I'm not saying that the girls who were injured today did that just that most of the kids do it out of bravado.
Myrtle Springs needs a demolition team not a lollypopman!

CCTV all over the school wont be long before they find out who did it. The school has improved soooo much since Mr Wydenbach joined, he has done so much for that school, and just remember the teachers cant do anything about bullying ifthey dont see it happening or the pupil being bullied doesnt report it. Myrlte Springs is in the public eye at the moment so every little bad thing gets reported about now. The fire didnt do much damage the tower block was open and only 2 classrooms where closed this was due to smoke damage not fire, as they said the fire wasnt a major fire. I believe that quite a few people should actually think twice before commenting on the school. I also believe that there is alot more parents that would want him to stay than would want him to go.
