Ask at the garden centres that sell the seasonal decorations. They stock attachments for gutters to hang strings of lights, so may be able to advise you on the correct fixing to use for the roof.

You can use screw in hooks and eyes for the guttering/fascia boards, window frames, whatever, and cable ties. You can make little hooks with strips of metal that can slide under tiles and fit over the lats underneath.

Go for it. We need more lights to get us in the spirit this year, as everyone is so blinking gloomy! Kids love it, and big kids too!

Well, I suppose someone has to ask ..... why do you want to put lights on your roof at Xmas when you won't put them on!
If you want to make them ******** ... plug 'em in and turn 'em on!
If you connect two sets it'll look like this, ******************** ! .... Better,eh ... but wait!
Use coloured computer ink and they'll look like this ... *************** ! ... You have to agree, much more seasonal!

plastic shingle clips - buy them at the garden centres or diy stores.....

and google how to protect your roof to avoid fires.
