Hi All,
I am looking to replace and move my combi boiler in preparation for a kitchen refurb. Currently I have a Worcester (new when the flat was new in 1987) in the kitchen of my 2nd floor flat and I want it to be moved to the loft (which is directly above and has decent access). Much of the CH pipework already runs though the loft, but obviously some changes to the pipework will need to be made. Currently I believe the gas supply is through 15mm pipe and am told this will need replacing with 22mm which will have to run on the outside of the building since I don’t have access to the flat below. I would probably go for a Worcester Bosch replacement since my existing boiler has served me well, in fact I’m a bit loathed to do this while it still works!
Can anyone recommend someone for this work in Walkley? Any of the forum Gas Safers fancy quoting – please send a PM.
Cheers,
Jamp

Thanks for your replies. I have just spoken to the landlord of the freehold on my flat who, strictly speaking, owns the roof and loft of my flat, despite the only access to it being from inside my flat. Therefore I need their permission to install a boiler in the loft, and they say they won't give that permission due to fire risk.
I am therefore going to have to alter my plans so am going to put the quoting on hold, but could I have your opinions on the landlord's view? He stated that a boiler is a greater fire risk in a roof space than a kitchen since the kitchen has a fire resistant ceiling and door, and that I would notice a fire in the kitchen sooner. I have a service contract with BG and mentioned my loft plan to the service technician and he made no mention of a fire risk, so I assume it's not an issue with Gas Safe or building regs?

hi jamp we are walkley based so on your doorstep, you say you
want another worcester as replacement for your old boiler, you
will have to look at the length of condensate you need for your
new boiler, worcester have a tendancy for a frozen condensate
especially in winter,if you want a free no obligation quote and
talk about you best options feel free to give us a call as we
would need to visit your property to assess your options.

Cheers Mal.
Is there any reason why a smoke alarm couldn't be fitted in the loft?

Why not go for mild steel outside. It wouldn't be a liable to theft and shouldn't cost that much more any decent plumbing company should be able to do this for you.

Would like to survey/quote BUT find re-locating boilers ends in misery (any of a dozen things can mean they do not work on commissioning).....hence....I will tell you where I am....count me out

Let's start again (lol) I would highly recommend Mickey ET from the forum. He put me a new boiler in and could not fault his price or his workmanship.
